And it's done!
A few notes.
This is more "expanded" than "new" as I think people will be relieved to hear. Essentially, it's mostly expansions to the rules. The core stay pretty much the same. I've used Time of Honour which builds on the same base as the old rules (New Orleans).
So characters won't need converting other. I've already sent you abilities with the last returns. The only conversion needed is carriages to the new rules which is easy enough.
The new rules can be considered live for next returns. They won't be applied retroactively. e.g there is now a limit on how many pieces of artwork can be commissioned, but those who have previously done so will start with a clean slate.
Apart from on things like advocates overseeing houses and wills anyone who's bought a house or made a will will be considered to have done that already.
The main aim is to add content but let people choose whether to engage with it. e.g. You have lots of ability. But if you play the game as if nothing but Military Abiilty exists it works fine.
Added complexity is largely on my side, especially for the core. I put the new mistress "behind the scenes" mechanics in in case people like having them. But really you can just court them like you've always done. (Some of the additional careers are pretty crunchy though).
I'm seeing this as semi final once it's been looked through by people. No more big changes, just the occasional bit of tinkering if necessary.
In terms of what I'm interested in when people are reading through, in rough order of priority.
Rule inconsistencies. I've tried to catch all of these but I'm sure I've missed some.
Heavily imbalanced rules. Obviously, if these are deliberate I'll say so but I'm interested in unintended consequences.
Big rules additions. New sections. This would be the time to add them if you think something's missing.
Smaller rules modifications. I'm not against these, but they aren't a priority.
Typos. Useful, obviously.
Hope people enjoy the new rulebook! I will enjoy not spending hours every day working on it.
