New PC arrived today. Unless people want them, I wasn't going to make any big changes, this is a rewrite to make them easier to follow.
That said, if there's any bits you hate now would be the time to say that!
(I get the feeling that now people are used to it they like the multiple fronts and the feel of a "living" campaign but do say if not).

No because it's not done yet, this is a statement of intent rather than a finished product!

Though it is explained in 18.1. for easiness of reference,I'd suggest to return to the original rules and puting an asterisk to the ones that are Cavalry in the table in 18.6.
It should also be written somewhere the regimental weapon, even if only by saying "regimental weapon for infantry is rapier, and for cavalry sabre" (unless you want a Regiment to have a diferent weapon, as the Royal Marines in the Original Rules.
Once again, I'd add agai nthe Paris Guard, as I keep belieing it can be a good option for middle to low SL new characters (but I must concede that's a matter of taste).

Can I add to Huillaume's point re the Paris Guard. Ok I may have somewhat of an interest what with my character being the lowliest in the game but I still think it would be better with them in rather than out.

I have no issue with having the Paris Guard in, I'm just not sure the current set of rules work that well! That said, if anyone wants to join we can use the old draft rules until we can find a fix.

Have you got the old rules for the Paris guard anywhere? I can't find them.

C&Ping doesn't do the formating but hopefully it's ok!
The Paris Guard's can be joined with the same rolls as the Picardy Musketeers and has the same SP gains and pay etc, it never goes on campaign as it is permanently stationed in Paris and can never volunteer. It is not part of any Brigade and can be joined by any character wishing to change regiment without penalty. The regimental weapon is the 2 handed sword, they have no regimental enemies. Once a character has been in the Guard's for a month they can then apply for any suitable vacant appointments in the Nightwatch (see below). Troopers of the Nighwatch must spend 2 weeks patrolling the streets and Ensigns 1 week, this replaces the usual duty. Captains of the Nightwatch and lower ranks can patrol any addition weeks if they wish. When a character is on patrol no other character can be mugged when leaving the bawdyhouse that week, if the roll means that they would have been then on a roll second of 5+ any patrolling character has caught the potential mugger and receives a bonus (see below). On any other week they catch a attempted mugger on a 6+ and automatically receive a reward. The reward for catching a mugger is 1d6 x 10cr. Rank Min SL Appointment Number Who appoints Status Inf Dice roll Pay Private 2 Trooper, Nightwatch Any Captain, Nightwatch 1 0 6 0 Subaltern 3 Ensign, Nightwatch 4 Captain, Nightwatch 3 0 6 0 Captain 4 Captain, Nightwatch 1 Commander, Nightwatch 5 1 6 0 Major 5 Commander, Nightwatch 1 City Military Governor 8 4

I think the main issue with it is that it has the disadvantage of the other guards (hard to go on campaign) but without any of those benefits!

But it is nice and safe! Providing a character manages to get into it, of course!

A couple of questions about the first month of the campaign season.
"20.20 In the first month of a campaign season the battle result is determined in the third week (so it's possible spend a week in Paris tidying up affairs, take a week to travel to the front and still takepart in the battle)
"6.4 A certain amount of SP can be carried over to the next month. Any excess/deficit over/under 2*SL is retained. However, when at the front, on an expedition, or on a mission, no changes are made to a character's SP tally and he resumes with the previous total carried forward on his return to Paris. SPs for certain events such as duels that take place before departing for the front will be held over." "8.1 Female Companionship: Someone who goes for a month or more without Female Companionship (FC) will lose SP (-2 per month since last FC). Exceptions to this rule are people at the front....."
"21.1 .........When on campaign pay and allowances are received though no personal support costs, club dues, or other monthly expenses need be paid. (Exception: Mistress upkeep, housing costs and draft/racehorse upkeep must be paid)."
The rules as written state that you can spend a month in Paris, then travel to the Front and take part in a battle. So, do you count as being at the Front or in Paris for that month? Or both? Do you have to total up all the SPs for a SL check, even if you are there for just one week? If a duel was held, but you stay for that first week, do the SPs get assigned, or carried over? Do you have to have female companionship in that week, or suffer a -2SP? Do you have to pay personal support costs, club dues, or other monthly expenses, even though you are just there for a week?
Or is this just a way of saying you can go to the Front in months one and two, but not three, and therefore you cannot actually use that week in the first month?

David Waring

Some errata:
19.3 add “(5 or 6)” after “a bad battle result”
20.2 Replace with “If there are two or more regiments (including frontier regiments) on the same front, they will be grouped into larger formations with their own commanders and adjutants. Brigades consist of 2 Regiments of the same type (infantry or cavalry) commanded by a Brigadier General. If there are an odd number of Regiments assigned to the front, the first brigade will have three regiments instead of two. If there are two Brigades assigned to a front, they will be formed into a Division commanded by a Marshal de Camp. If there are three or more Brigades assigned to a front, they will be formed into a Army commanded by a Marshal de France. Command appointments are made at the start of May”
Sidebar – Should an exception be made to the command appointments being made at the start of May be made for larger formations created in seasons other than May? You mentioned in the March Applications that “there are some open command positions but the only person eligible is Guy” contradicting the last sentence of paragraph 20.2. Or is the exception covered in paragraph 20.7
There are two paragraphs 20.8 which impacts the number of all following paragraphs.

It was actually the latter, so if that remains it I should clarify that it seems! (I think, this was a Gaston written rule so I'm not completely sure what the intention is). That said, if people would like it to be the former I could look at that.
