The Social Whirlwind by Le Mole
Another bad month for Sieur D'Blancheur, whose manners at Court were so lacking that he was given a medal, perhaps in recognition of the fact he is a man whose social skills are best suited to the front. If only he would take a cue from Comte Lagarde de Bearne, whose behaviour at his titling ceremony showed why he is one of the most important men in Paris.
Of course, this month saw the February Ball, hosted by Comte Bougiedure. Not only is a party in a Chateau remarkably impressive in its own right, Princess Louisa graciously attended as guest of honour! Truly Comte Bougiedure is a man who moves in exalted circles.
The same can not be said of Ensign L'Opital who not only tried to eat his soup with a fork, but kept forgetting his poor companion's name. Sir! At least try and pretend to show some interest in the poor girl! I think you were even worse than Father Chatten who quite obviously has never been to a formal ball before. (Piety is one thing Mlle Jeanette, but perhaps you wish to choose a more suitable partner for future events? Or at least one that knows how to do up a cravat).
At least Baron de la Azur knows how to behave in high society.
At at least all of the aforementioned had a dancing partner. Unlike Sieur D'Blancheur who I hear turned up to the ball and stood at the wall like a damp lettuce!
Of course, this month also saw the exciting event that is The Saint Denis Stakes.
Father Chatten was seen with Doctor D'Eath, perhaps feeling the need for some company of his own social standing after the previous week's events!
Mlle Valerie was seen with Subaltern Jacques, who insisted on buying some novelty "horse dropping" shaped ornaments, much to the good lady's pained expression.
But most impressive, yet again, was Comte Bougiedure who spent the entire race getting rather merry with no other than His Majesty! Comte Bougiedure really is the toast of Paris at the moment.

Celeste Ludenburg - La Gallerie Veritie
A new composer is in town, my friends.
I speak of course of Mlle Valerie.
Her new composition, "La Belle Fleur" can only be described as magnificent. My heart is cold and dead and yet I fear I heard it stir. I am not one for drama, heaven forbid. But I feel we perhaps have seen the new de Manchicourt come calling.

It seems Wilting Thistle continues to shine, with another win. Good placing from Big Brown as well, although Silvermane's 3rd place (which would be impressive from most horses) might be said to be a disappointment.

Shock as De Macque Killers found not guilty
Gasps rang through the courtroom as every single one of the accused was found not guilty on grounds of "provocation". This was despite a rousing closing speech from prosecutor Monsieur Balls, who observers agreed had given one of the finest legal performances seen in court in some time. Still, the Judge has made his decision and, is customary, it will not be revisited.

Comtess Yvonne De Villepin – A Romantic Interlude
Some young ladies seem to have given up on the romantic scene although which I hope will teach some kind of lesson to those of you who have been ignoring the fine gentlewomen of Paris in favour of the Lady's Slipper or even worse the Bawdyhouse!!!! I hope our new arrivals will be treated better by the single gentlemen of Paris it is time to step up gentlemen!!!

An Ecumenical Matter by Pastor Jacques
Father CHATTEN took time OFF from entering HORSES in the RACES, drinking ALCOHOL and DANCING with UNMARRIED women to give a SERMON in WHICH he praised SOLDIER Ensign L'Hopital for HAVING got BACK from the FRONT. Father CHATTEN has KINDLY (says the EDITOR) provided a COPY of his SERMON which APPARENTLY is GOING in the PAPER although they have not ALLOWED me to theologically CRITIQUE it in ADVANCE.
A sermon in praise of The Right Honourable Maurice de L’Hopital by Father Gerard Chatten
It is with great pleasure I note that this fine young gentleman takes his place in Paris Society this month. And I also not, with great respect, that the Monsieur, as is fitting for a Scion of the House of the Ducs de Vitny, that he chose to display how true Nobility chose to lead us, by bravely slaying our foes on the battlefield prior to making his debut.
He epitomises the Nobility, and reminded me of several passages from the Bible.
1 Samuel Chapter 15 - And the Lord anointed you king over Israel. The Ducs may not be Kings, but the original Duc was chosen by one anointed as by God, our very own King of France.
Now Maurice may not yet even be a Duc, but does it not also say in 2 Kings Chapter 11 - Then he brought the king’s son out and put the crown on him and gave him the testimony; and they made him king and anointed him
It is his manifest destiny to become a Lord over us after his father, as is the natural order ordained by God.
I will close, with the following quote to remind everyone else how we should conduct ourself to our betters. Its from 1 Peter, Chapter 2, Verse 17.
Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honour the emperor

Voix de Paris Announcement
Sieur Jacques Bougiedure, Comte de Chevreuse, announces that the Art Show and Formal Ball to be held at Chateau Beau Jardins has been postponed. At the time of the original announcement, the Comte neglected to consult the liturgical calendar. To ensure that the Christians of Paris have ample time to reflect upon the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Art Show and Ball are rescheduled to the third week of April Anno Domini Sixteen Hundred Thirty-Three.
The theme of the Art Show is The Rites of Spring and all aspiring artists are encouraged to prepare an art work, ballet, or musical composition for presentation at that time. A Grand Prize of 300 Livre will be presented to the artist whose work most impresses the Comte. Additional consideration will be given for paintings or ballets incorporating nymphs and satyrs.
