Here's an example of monthly orders for Pierre Laplange, the 1st son of a Well-to-Do Gentleman. Additional explanatory notes are in italics.
Monthly Orders January 1630
Conspicious Consumption x3 - I buy myself a new outfit.
Being an ambitious young man, Pierre is spending 9 times his Social Level to get three Status Points. His father isn't poor but isn't exactly rolling in it either, so Pierre may run out of money if he keeps this up... The note about the new outfit but bonus SP may be awared for especially impressive descriptions of what you're buying with Conspicious Consumption
Default Weapon - Rapier
Premonthly
Visit Shylocks and borrow 500 crowns. That solves his money problems, but could lead to problems somewhere down the line
Join Frog & Peach.
Apply to join Crown Prince Curiassers. If unsucessful attempt to join lower ranking regiments in order, but give up if rejected by Picardy Musketeers.
Buy Captain's rank. That explains the loan. Pierre has said he wants to join a prestigious regiment but he is prepared to join others. If a Captain's vacancy is available and uncontested he'll join at that rank, otherwise he'll automatically join as a Subaltern. While both Cavalry regiments and Captains need a horse, Pierre will automatically buy one without ordering it if accepted.
Buy four lottery tickets.
Week 1
Buy Apartment for 5 Crowns.
Week 2
Court Josephine Coco (Cost 15 Crowns). Stand down to any of mine or friendly regiment. Spend extra 30 Crowns to improve chances.
Here Pierre has worked out who to stand down to (to avoid the social embarassment of duelling a member or friend of his new regiment) and how much he wants to spend on courtship. If he succeeds he'll get both Status and fufill his female companionship requirements.
Week 3
If previous courtship was unsuccessful repeat orders from Week 2.
If it was succesful take Josephine to Church (Collection plate costs 15)
Notably this order will still take place even if someone else succesfully courted Josephine!
Week 4
If Josephine is my Mistress take her to the Frog and Peach. Carouse (15 Crowns) but no Gambling.
If I still have no mistress go to the Bawdyhouse. Carouse (5 Crowns) and buy Female Companionship (5 Crowns)
A clever use of conditional orders here. Pierre is making sure he doesn't lose social points for a lack of female company, even if he has to resort to the Bawdyhouse.
