Guardsman Henri Arrested on Slander Charges
Henri Aubert, a Guardsman in the King's Musketeers, has been arrested on charges of slander brought by the Commissioner for Public Safety. The accusations stem from comments made about Guardsman Henri about the war hero Sieur D'Blancheur.
Guardsman Henri voluntarily gave himself up to custody, although he wishes it to be known that he will be protesting his innocence. He has hired Monsieur de Croiseus to defend his case, an interesting choice. While Monsieur de Crosieus has shown great success in a previous slander case, being a successful prosecution against Father Lachapelle, he has not yet made a name for himself outside the church courts.
The Crown still has to announce a prosecuting advocate.
An anonymous informant in the King's Musketeers told us "that Baron Lagarde de Bearne has a funny idea of regimental friendship. Did you know he used to be in the Cardinal's Guard? I say no more".

Reports from the Front by General Georges Boulle (rtd.)
It seems Captain D'Blancheur has finally got himself a mention in dispatches. Was this for his service at the front? His gallant bravery? No, it was for "getting married". Ah, the privileges of rank.
Spanish Frontier
A bad month at the Spanish Frontier with heavy casualties as we failed to take the enemy lines. Even the Frontier Commander fell in the fighting. While Brigadier-General Lagarde de Bearne did his best, he only managed to stave off the worst and saw his aide Subaltern Ecrou cut down next to him. The Spanish Frontier Regiment were repulsed. Subaltern Segal fought like a demon, taking down many enemy soldiers but eventually the lack of support from elsewhere caught up with him. Only the RNHB had a reasonable time and even they lost many men. Next month we shall be laying siege to the enemy lines again, although unless more troops are sent from Paris I fear that will also end badly.
Deaths: Philibert Ecrou, Valentino Segal
Flanders
It seems we have fought the enemy to a standstill here as both sides have agreed to wind down their operations and move towards an uneasy peace. Especially impressive were the Dragoon Guards, again ably lead by acting regimental commander Captain Bougiedure. Hero of the day however was Captain de la Azur, whose leadership of his squadron led to the enemy turning tail and fleeing.
Mentions in Dispatches: Renald de la Azur
Lorraine
Here we at least managed to push the enemy back enough to take us off the defensive next month. Results were mixed, from the excellent results of the third brigade to the sadly bloody damage done to the 2nd brigade.
Savoy
A victory with a heavy cost, but a victory none the less. The Normandy Regiment were heavily devastated, but the Anjou Dragoons showed their worth on assault missions.
Next month:
Spanish Frontier HL 9 Invasion Siege
Flanders Frontier HL 2 Garrison, Garrison
Lorraine Frontier HL 5 Guerilla War, Field
Savoy Frontier HL 2 Garrison, Garrison

The Social Whirlwind by Le Mole
Scandal! Poor Guardsman Henri can't catch a break it seems! At the start of August he was going about his merry business, when he was attacked by six ruffians. Outnumbered as he was, he was forced to beat a hasty retreat. All I shall say is that in my experience, ruffians don't attack gentlemen for no reasons and these ones showed no interest in his purse. It seems Guardsman Henri has already gained some rather vicious enemies in his short time in Paris...
Sieur D'Blancheur's stag party was rather sparsely offended I'm afraid. Still, I hear he had a good time, getting rather merry. He even had a sidebet with one of the croupiers, which he managed to win!
Of course, the wedding of Sieur D'Blancheur and Mme Murieldis was the big social event of the month, with so many people at the front. It was good to see Parisian's new arrival Mme Valerie attend to pay court to her social betters. She was accompanied by a young man who only introduced himself as "Jacques". While their dancing was passable (unlike the bride and groom who were positively impressive), the poor chap seemed a bit overwhelmed by the occasion.
In Week four, Sieur D'Blancheur and Mme Murieldis were seen attending the court ball, where their dancing again grabbed attention. Guardsman Henri was on duty that month, but he at least has the manners not to cause any social awkwardness.
I do so look forward to all of you returning to Paris next month so the social year can start again!

Romantic Interlude
By Yvonne de Villepin
It's good to see that old fashioned gentlemen have not entirely died out as Monsieur Durant did the right thing by his new lady and spent August in the provinces meeting her parents!!! It is also to see that our new Parisian arrival Mme. Valerie is the romantic sort as I notice that she has been enjoying the company of Subaltern Jacques a strapping young man from the Paris Guard let us just hope she is less fickle than certain other young women some of us may remember even if they did eventually settle down and get married!!! Of course, the big event of the month was the wedding of Arnold and Murieldis d'Blancheur who I wish many years of happiness together!!! It was good to see that some of you made the effort to get them a present despite being at the front!!! Valerie bought a women's touch to her very charming choice of curtains!!! Both Baron de la Azur and Baron Bougiedure obviously feel a man can not have too many swords and I'm sure that Murieldis likes the mirror and ball gown and I have to say that Baron de la Azur in particular is a very generous man!!! So many big spenders!!! Also, Baron Lagarde de Bearne got them a very nice pen!!!
