Mulling about some thoughts. What if a character of means wanted to create a social event that is not necessarily covered by existing rules? Such as sponsoring a charity fund raiser. Perhaps as a ball with much carousing and gambling involved, then donate a portion of the donations and proceeds to charity. Shouldn't additional status points be gained should an impressive total be raised? Guests making significant donations should also receive SPs for their gracious largesse. Writing a rules set that would cover an infinite array of possibilities would be obviously onerous. But if we wanted to semi-codify such ad hoc situations we could simply say something to the effect that such situations will be assessed by the game administrator and all decisions are final.
I would appreciate your opinions particularly if they disagree with mine.

That's absolutely fine. I don't think I've ever codified the rules on non standard actions and probably should do but they boil down to:
1. Because of being hand moderated Liminal does have space for actions outside the game mechanics if people have an idea for one.
2. Ideas that negatively affect other PCs probably won't be approved, unless you've put a set of formal rules in the discussion forum.
3. The sooner you let me know about an idea, the better. The very latest I'll accept them for the next month is by the announcements deadline. (In other words, don't ask me to write up rules for an event on deadline day!)
4. I do reserve the right to veto although that's the exception rather than the rule.
5. I will ask any player who has so many non standard actions that their turns are taking an hour to process to slow it down a bit!
