The Social Whirlwind by Le Mole
Despite many of you being at the front, I'm happy to say this wasn't a dead month socially.
I'm sure we'd all like to welcome Monseigneur Robin back to Paris, after his overseas adventures. The good Abbe threw himself right back into the truly important side of Paris, spending the month at Blue Gables. Although he did stay sober both weeks. Really Monsigneur, have a little drinkie. What's the worst that could happ... oh, right.
Sieur de la Azur was in Paris but spent the entire month praying and studying. Dull, dull little man.
At least Monsieurs Durant and Valentino went out drinking.
My favourite gentleman of the month however was Sieur d'Blancheur who showed the rest of you how to behave. Court in the first week (where I hear Mme Murieldis was especially delightful company) where he participated in the hunt, although I suspect he might have been more successful if his tactics had been bolder. Unfortunately, the poor chap returned home to find his horse Lady of Shallot had died of horse lurgy. (Not a technical term dears. I'm not a veterinarian). It seems he is no more successful with the race horses than he is at romance. I think we can forgive him spending the latter half of the month drinking somberly at the Rose and Crown.

Reports from the Front by General Georges Boulle (rtd.)
Busy time at the front for the lads. Only going to get busier. Less busy time for Segal who still isn't wanted in the nightwatch.
Spanish Frontier
Bit better this month, but still uncertain how this is going to go, especially considering the understaffing issue. Looks like an enemy incursion is one the way.
Flanders
Even less developments at Flanders. Seems like everyone is holding their energy in reserve for summer. Probably sensible.
Lorraine
Very mixed results here. 1st Brigade took a beating. Anjou Dragons in particular. They got swamped by a storming party. At least the King's Curiassers were able to retreat in an orderly fashion.
Languedoc took some damage in the 2nd Brigade, but the fighting here was pretty evenly matched.
Brigadier General D'Avaranches showed his strategic worth again with the third brigade. Carefully minimised casualties. Nice work, sir. Probably should call you that, now you've become a Baron. Well done on the promotion as well. Nice to know talent is still recognised by the nobs. Well done to Subaltern Alaire as well. Hear he carried out his aide duties without a trace of fear.
Lorraine Frontier Regimental Commander also used clever tactics to keep deaths down. Probably a good thing. Almost made up for Lagarde de Bearne yet again putting his men at risk to chase after wealth.
Mentions in Dispatches: Francois Alaire Titled: Guy D'Avaranches Promoted: Guy D'Avaranches
Savoy
Again, not much happening here. French Guard did well. Frontier Regiment took a kicking. 1st Squadron of the Dragoon Guards harassed the enemy but no real clashes.
Next month:
Spanish Frontier HL 7 Incursion Defense
Flanders Frontier HL 10 WAR Field
Lorraine Frontier HL 10 WAR Defense
Savoy Frontier HL 10 WAR FIELD

ROME and its influence on the Parisian church
By Pastor Jacques
Monseigneur ROBIN returns to PARIS in the hope that we have all FORGOTTEN his DISGRACE. It seems some have as I see that Sieur de la Azur, Monsieur SEGAL and Monsieur Durant attended his sermon. It was kind of SEGAL to drag himself from his WHORING to pray. I hear a new PAPIST priest arrives in Paris in JUNE.

Romantic Interlude
By Yvonne de Villepin
Poor Monsieur Durant!!! He is not having any luck with the ladies despite being an excellent prospect!!! This month it was Hugolina that so cruelly dashed his hopes!!! This is why poor Monsieur Durant keeps having to go to the bawdyhouse ladies!!! Won't one of you give him a chance??!!! Perhaps they would be equally hardhearted with Monsieur Segal but he will never find out unless he drags himself away from the charms on offer at the Lady's Slipper!!!
