News From the Ivory Tower By Professor Blanchent
The Director of the Royal Academy of Science, Baron Max Rodin, informs me that preparations for the Academy's Annual Dinner had been going ahead in hopes that His Majesty might be sufficiently recovered to attend by the end of the month. (The Dining Room of the Fleur de Lys looks particularly festive and François Pierre La Varenne, one of the most renowned chefs in Paris, has been engaged to cater the event). Following the tragic death of King Louis XIII a sealed packet was delivered to Baron Rodin outlining the late monarch's final wishes regarding the Academy (including, it is rumoured, a knighthood and small estate for one of the Academy Fellows). In order that the late King's wishes may be carried out it has been decided that the Annual Dinner shall go ahead as planned in the fourth week of October. It is hoped that the late King Louis' successor may be prevailed upon to officiate.
