For Honour by Chevalier Zacharie Grosjean
Lord Auguste Balls, Viscomte de Torcy, met with Lord Andre, Baron de Rothchild, on the field of honor at the beginning of July. Readers will have hoped for a lengthy description of the fight but unfortunately for you, Lord Balls’ first thrust hit home and as the opponents had agreed to first blood, the affair was ended.

The Social Whirlwind by Sieur Matheus Mallette
With the Royal Court and the army out of the city, Paris’ social scene was almost completely lifeless. Only Lord Balls provided any relief by attending the theater with his wife in the first week of July and hosting the Opening Night Party at the Fleur-de-Lys. It is a pity that more people didn’t attend either event.

A Romantic Interlude by Comtessa Yvonne De Villepin
Lady Ball attend the theater and her husband’s Opening Night party where, thankfully, she did not make a spectacle of herself.
Mdm De’Ath was left to her own devices this month as her beau, Chevalier José Vendredi, was travelling with the Royal Court.

Limelight
The Ball’s Players presented, Duelling Fops, sponsored by Lord Balls. The performance was lightly attended and forgettable. I had been hoping to see Mdm De’Ath in the female lead as she is a nice piece of alright but was instead treated to one of the city’s run-of-the-mill hags.

The Paris Blotter by Colonel Jean Henri
Mlle des Marais was accosted by ruffians in the last week of July while out for a stroll. The perpetrators were detained by the Night Watch and, under interrogation, revealed that they had been hired by Mdm De’ath. It will be interesting to see how the Commissioner for Public Safety approaches this matter.

Reports from the Front by General Georges Boulle (rtd.)
The First Division crushes their enemy while the other divisions achieve little.
Flanders Frontier
The Spanish were not able to bring the Second Division to battle.
Lorraine Frontier
Marshal de France Bougiedure abandoned his usual cautious approach to maneuver and ordered a full-on assault against the Hapsburg. Fortune favored the bold in this case as his battle plan crushed the enemy position and scattered them to the four winds. Lord Bougiedure was recognized with the Legion d’Honneur and two mentions in dispatch as well as a sizable portion of loot.
Brigadier General Buisson, won a mention in dispatches for leading his brigade to seize a bastion held by the enemy. More importantly, I am told was his discovery of a heaping pile of valuables contained within
Savoy Frontier
A quiet month in garrison.
Spanish Frontier
The Third Division engaged in a game of cat and mouse with the Spanish but little of consequence was achieved by either side.
Next month:
Flanders Frontier HL 10 WAR Field Operations
Lorraine Frontier HL 10 WAR Field Operations
Savoy Frontier HL 1 Garrison Garrison
Spanish Frontier HL 10 WAR Field Operations
