The Racing Form by Lancelot Lémieux
The running of the Futurity was bit of a surprise. Lord Bougiedure’s horse got a fast start out of the gate and never conceded the lead. Lord Blankeneyer’s horse was close on Black Moon’s heels but flagged in the back stretch allowing Abraxas to take over the second place spot in the back turn. But it was Firstborn that overcame to secure the second place position in the end.
1st – Black Moon 2nd – Firstborn 3rd – Abraxas 4th – Lord Blankemeyer 5th – Lady Isolde 6th – Rusty Knocker

The Social Whirlwind by Sieur Matheus Mallette
The reception for the Envoy from the Papal States was attended by Lord and Lady Bougiedure. Lord Bougiedure’s wit and manners were, as expected, flawless but his wife was much less vivacious than normal.
Across the Seine, Lord de Bearne and his wife attended the Opening Night of Pseudolus at the Theatre Johi. In the audience at the same performance were Lord and Lady de Bearne, Madame De’Ath, Mssr de Henri, Captain Bussion with Mlle Favre, and Father William.
At Government meetings in the second week, Lord Bougiedure made quite the favorable impression amongst his fellow ministers with the speech that he gave
Lord Bougiedure hosted Lord Balls and Father Vincent de Pooh in his owner’s box at the Futurity and were visited by the King. Lord and Lady de Bearne shared their owner’s box with Grand Duc Max.
Lord de Bearne’s speech as Governor to the Parlement of Paris inspired only faint applause owing more to his stature as Grand Duc than to any real inspiration. His efforts were not helped by his wife, who sat mutely throughout the proceedings. Lord and Lady Bougiedure were spied in a private box at the Theatre Johi, enjoying the presentation of Pseudolus in its final week.

A Romantic Interlude by Comtessa Yvonne De Villepin
Lady de Bearne was much in the presence of her husband this month, attending him to the theater, the Futurity, and Parlement. Indeed, the only time she was not seen by his side was in the second week of January when she was about with her step-children and ward.
Lady Bougiedure attended her husband to the reception for the Papal Envoy at the Louvre and to the theater, preferring to spend the intervening two weeks at home.
Madame De’Ath was busy at the Theatres Royal and Johi most of the month, attending the ArchDuc Men’s presentation of Pseudolus and rehearsing for the upcoming Good Doctor. She chose to withdraw from society in the third week.
Mssr de Henri was seen departing the Lady’s Slipper.

Reports from the Front by General Georges Boulle (rtd.)
Captain Bussion of the Dragoon Guards Regiment is becoming quite the fixture at the Military. I recommend that he put some of that book learning into use at the front! And he may get the chance in the Spring as France’s enemies appear to be ready to renew the fight as the snows melt.
Flanders Frontier
Aggressive patrolling by the Flanders Frontier Regiment pays off in winning a larger skirmish against Spanish Forces.

Operations against the Hapsburg forces are inconsequential.

The Frontier Brigade Commander sends the Savoyard rebels scampering back over the border.
