The Social Whirlwind by Sieur Matheus Mallette
Sieur Matheus has taken ill with a fever. This month’s column will be abbreviated – ed.
Lords Balls and Bougiedure attended Government Meeting in the first week.
The Steeplechase was attend by Lord Balls and Lord de Bearne in their Owner’s Boxes. The Crown Prince visited Lord de Bearne. Mdm d’Armagnac attended in the Pavilion. Lord Bougiedure spent the evening at his club.
Lord de Bearne’s ball celebrating his engagement to Lady de Lyon was very well attended. The guest list included the Crown Prince, Archduke Leopold, Grand Duc Maximillian, Lord Balls, Mdm d’Armagnac, Captain Buisson, Father Vincent, Mdm De’Ath, and Father William. The event was deemed a success. Lord Bougiedure attended the Royal Hunt at Fontainebleau in the third week.
Captain Buisson was knighted for bravery in the Summer Campaign at the Royal Ball held in the fourth week. Lords Balls, Bougiedure and de Bearne were also in attendance.

A Romantic Interlude by Comtessa Yvonne De Villepin
Lady de Lyon had a busy month attending the Steeplechase with her fiancé and playing hostess at her own engagement celebration. I say shame on you Lord de Bearne.
Lady Bougiedure skipped the Government Meetings at the beginning of the month but was otherwise out with her husband the rest of the month.
Lady Balls was also with her husband for most of the month, attending him to the Steeplechase, Lord de Bearne’s ball and the Royal Ball.
Mlle Favre attended Lord de Bearne’s ball on the arm of the dashing Captain Buisson, then was escorted by him to his titling ceremony at the Royal Ball.
Little of note happened to the widows d’Armagnac and De’Ath aside from attending Lord de Bearne’s ball.
