My Lord,
I have noted that His Majesty shall be working feverishly this month on government, and that almost none of the first week's discussions involve matters for which I have been assigned responsibility. I humbly request that you grant me a leave of absence that first week so that I might attend the opening of my new play. My service to the kingdom in pursuing the greatest glories of our culture in this way is certain to be a greater contribution to the enduring legacy of His Majesty than would be my superfluous attendance at court. I intend to fulfil my obligations during the other two weeks of government meetings.
