Congratulations on your new appointment. So new indeed that I do not know, at the time of writing, who is to be appointed.
I know you are bound to be busy, but I draw your attention to the vacancy for a Priest for the Parish of Saint-Josse. I feel, as I have lived and worked in this parish for some time, that I am the ideal candidate. Therefore please consider me for this honour.
Otherwise, if it is within your gift, perhaps consider me to replace you in whatever Parish you have just left.

To: The Bishop of the Diocese of Bas-Ville, Bishop fellow, Apologies for not knowing your name, I am used to normally only dealing with Arch-Bishops and Cardinals rather than the lesser clergy. My good friend Father Souris has, I hear, applied for the position of Parish Priest at Saint-Josse and this missive is to lend my support to his application and trust that you will have the good sense to grant such. Fr Souris is a splendid fellow and more than merits this post, in fact he really ought to be elevated straight to a Cardinal in my most humble and wise opinion as the chap has all the hallmarks of becoming a future Pope so it seems a shame having to make him wait for too long! You are no doubt aware I am an extremely senior Government Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister to be precise, and I have friends in many high places, not least amidst the family of His Majesty and various noble families throughout the Realm. Were you aware that I was previously His Majesty's personal physician, yes, I'm sure you were so you can see the range of my contacts. I've no wish to denigrate your own social standing but, I mean, come on, a simple Bishop compared to a Viscomte who holds high office, it's what the English call a 'no brainer' really so I'm sure you'll be doing the right thing and have a confirmation letter despatched to Father Souris 'tout suite'. If you are ever in need of any superior medical care or advice do feel free to contact me, after all one good turn deserves another and we De'Ath's like to ensure we don't forget those who heed our words....just as much as we don't forget those who don't!
