NOTE: ITTR this was already discussed, but I cannot find it.
Now that Huillaume has to think about another mistress, the full effect of this change has came to my mind. Former rules (SL x 4) tended to make the couple equal in SL on long terms, as there will be turns where the lower on would reach the SL x 4 while the higher one will not.
This change will lead to ladies (or beaus, for what’s worth, but in this post I will refer to ladies meaning both cases) will end up with SL being 2/3 of his beau’s on the long run, as once it reaches it, the SL to raise her a SL will also raise his beau’s. At those high levels, this means the lady will cost SPs (unless attributes give some extra ones).
E.g.: let’s imagine Huillaume begins to date a SL 14 mistress. Raising her SL will need 84 SPs (OTOH, it will not cost him any, so some will be carried forward). Once she reaches SL 17, raising her SL will cost 102, while raising his own will need 100 (and `probably leave his with negative SPs carried forward). SO ,the difference will be left at 8 SLs, costing him 2 SPs per turn…
Of course, at this HL, if he accrues enough points, Court Duel rules make it possible he will not raise it, so mitigating in part this problem
See that a character with SL 18 and dating a lady with SL 12+ will have the same problem, though the difference will not cost him SPs.
Is this intentional? Personally, I find a system that will equal the SLs on the long run to make more sense…
10.7 Social Level:A Mistress's SL may rise if her current lover attains a number of SPs in one month equal to 6* her SL.
