One wishes to bring to your attention a candidate most suited for the cleansing flames of a holy bonfire, a certain individual calling himself, albeit a suspected alias, Ymbert Montgomery.
This person has recently arrived in Paris with there being little known of his actual background, other than rumours of past unshady dealings, but it is his current modus operandi that brings cause for concern and the reason why I have also called upon the Commissioner of Public Safety to act.
I suspect if he had chosen to make claim to being a Catholic clergyman his ruse would have been swiftly exposed so he has opted for masquerading as a Hugeunot fellow as theres precious few of that ilk around and allows him considerable more leeway in carrying out his deception. He has already robbed me and drugged Lieut Hoffman and his good lady, in the latter instance then also luring them away into becoming followers at his parish and to have signed away their previous committment to the true, Catholic faith.
It's my belief, professional belief, that the rogue has syphilis, aka the Spanish Disease, and his mind is deranged as a result of that afflicition but, nevertheless, he retains enough sanity to know the differential between right and wrong!
Many of my patients already speak openly to me of their reference to Montgomery as either Impbert or 'The Imp'. When I enquired as to why they said it was because of his general demeanour and presence, more than a few have commented as to him being a devotee of the Dark Lord, Satan!! Now, of course, such talk needs some kind of admission, proof etc to make it admissible and, so, what better way to gain such than through a direct confession from Montgomery himself! What I would therefore, respectfully, request is he be brought in 'for questioning', an interview if one could refer to it as such, where at Your Grace and some of your ablest brethren take some hours, considerable hours, long, slow hours testing the supposed faith of this Father Montgomery as I very much suspect a few hot coals under the feet, the odd loosend fingernail or a sampling of the notorious 'Pear of anguish' will soon have him revealing the truth of his unholy servitude and criminal dealings.
I leave it now in the hands of Your Grace, simply with the reminder that with the CPS now in on the case it may be a case of who gets their man first?! Will it be to the flames or to the block where his earthly fate is decided. Clearly I have somewhat of a vested interest if it is to be the block as then I will get the actual satisfaction of taking his villainous head off its shoulders but I'd shed no tears if the Church triumphs! I've every confidence in your swift resolution, also did I mention that I'm taking Holy Orders, as a Jesuit, myself...? No, well I am and I see one of the requirements is to gain a sponsor so would you be up for that? I'd be really grateful, free medical care for life, regular donations etc.
