Sorry for cluttering up the forums; I'm new to En Garde!, so most every situation is new to me! For weekly actions that can be influenced (such as seeking a patron), can those be conditional (e.g., seek a patron in week 1; if unsuccessful seek a patron in week 2), or is that illegal because it breaks the rules for influence (although I suppose someone could say "if they seek a patron in week 2, lobby against it")?

I recognize I'm spamming the forums while turn results are coming out- this isn't urgent.

Turn results are already all out so this is actually the best time to ask stuff; it's when there's a lull while everyone reads them!
For this very reason, you can only seek a Patron once a month. It's treated much like appointments or regimental applications in that sense, although it takes time.

Makes sense, and it's what I figured. That makes the decision of whom to seek as a patron a more interesting decision, too!

In that case, I'll ask another: do you have to leave your current patron before seeking another, or is it like mistresses where you can keep the one until you find a new one?

You can keep the one until you find a new one. However, note;
"If the Protégé breaks the Patronage he looses SP equal to his SL and the Patron’s SL." and the fact you're on -1 for every previous broken patronage.

Ah, OK. So there's some advantage to taking your time and being picky with regards to patrons.

Yes, all weekly actions can be conditional
