In memorium of Father Chatten, the Church will be auctioning off his race horse Athena for charity.
To encourage bids and raise money for charity, these will be CLOSED bids (you send me a bid secretly and the highest bidder wins. If a tie, an open bid between those two PCs will take place).
This is a PC only auction and minimum bid is 100L. Bids close at midnight Tuesday.

Dear friends, in regards to this horse poor, lamented, Fr Chatten did say to me, before he departed for foreign shores, that should anything bad happen to him resulting in his failure to return that Athena should be mine what with me having been his best friend.
Due to his somewhat hurried departure he was unable to confirm this through a formal advocate's office but he did scribble a quick note that he left with me. Unfortunately it has become a little the worse for wear as, it being most precious to me because of sentimental and proof value, I have kept it on my person the whole time since and various patients blood & other bodily secretions have smudged and obscured some of the writing, including Fr Chatten's signature.
However, with me being a professional man of good standing, a man very soon to be formally elevated into France's nobility I am reassured that true gentlemen and fellow nobles will choose to accept my words and honour Fr Chatten's wish that Athena becomes mine. As this has been declared a charity auction by the church I am, albeit with some degree of indignation as he did say I can have it, prepared to give 100 livres BUT, as I am sure you'll agree, no-one else should enter a bid. That's only fair!

When I was still a lawyer, Father Chattan had me draft his will. In it, he left everything to the Society du Sorbonne and appointed me executor. With regard to Athena, the sale of the horse is the ideal solution. The proceeds should be deposited with me as caretaker of the finances of the Society. Any other personal property of his should be delivered to the offices of Ile de France at first opportunity. Naturally, we of the Society make no claim with regard to Church property that the late priest had in his care.

My mistake, easily done in my pressured schedule I shall accept your instructions and trust that the sale benefits us all. Bastian

Gentlemen,
I'm afraid that regardless of any will or otherwise, we shall be taking this auction over unless a payment of 325L is made to our representatives in the next month. This, along with the money Father Chatten has left behind, will go off to pay the 600 Livres he leaves outstanding. Naturally, the contract is available for any who wish to see it. And we of course offer our deepest condolences.
Yours respectfully,
The Shylocks

Ah, now when I said I was Fr Chatten's good friend I merely meant that in a spiritual sense and certainly not in any financially binding one. Would it not be appropriate to seek the repayment of alleged debts directly from the barracks of the Royal Foot Guards as he was their Chaplain and I'm sure Lord de Bearne can resolve the matter.

To The Shylocks,
As executor of his estate, I believe it is in the interests of all concerned that you manage the auction to ensure there is no dispute over funds, commissions, fees etc. Should any money remain after his debt to you is paid, we can make arrangements regarding it.
Yours,
Auguste Balls
OOC: Let the auction continue as is to pay off his debts. There won't be anything left to argue over.

OOC: Yeah, sorry, I forgot to check that but everyone's favourite priest died with a massive chunk of debt.

OOC: Yeah, sorry, I forgot to check that but everyone's favourite priest died with a massive chunk of debt. Didn't he have a free house given to him by Lord Bougiedure? If this needs to be re-occupied by someone to stop the shylocks getting their hands on it I could step in and take up tenancy to help out? Docteur De'Ath
