Outrage is circulating around the streets of Paris following a subversive campaign - by persons yet unknown - to scupper the much anticipated 'Hack off a Head Party' of popular peoples Physician Docteur De'Ath.
Despite much publicity, a donation by Paris's leading light (Comte Jacques Bougiedure), prize money, free food & drink for guests and the opportunity to socialize in the fine surroundings of Hunters Club there have been no takers and thus, with heavy heart, the Party has been postponed until such time as these subversive elements have been identified and called to account for actively operating against.....His Majesty!! Yes, it is clear this is the work of those who are anti-monarchists as the good docteur is His Majesty's Royal Executioner and a snub to the docteur is, therefore, a sly slight against the King!
Speaking to a representative of La Voix de Paris, Docteur De'Ath had the following to say -
"I am livid that my splendid party has been sabotaged but even more so because it is clear that it is not me that is being snubbed but our wonderful King Louis XIII. Obviously people would have turned up in great numbers if it were not for these 'agents of sedition' and so I shall be looking at how I can avenge His Majesty who I love and serve with all my heart. Having spent some time in thought it came to me that there is such a way....a glorious way.... a most fitting way......through the post of what I believe is officially known as the Kings Champion and it is my intention to fill this role in the not too distant future whereupon I will have no hesitation in challenging the guilty parties with my huge great two handed sword"!
When asked by La Voix's representative if he believed that a docteur was really a suitable candidate for Kings Champion and what he actually knew about taking on the role the good docteur's reply was instant -
"I feel that the role is my destiny, in fact I've often had dreams of myself in post and, somewhat strangely perhaps, these dreams seems to be of a time in the future and, for some reason, I can hear people address me as Morris or Maurice, something like that BUT it's a clear sign...fate....what's meant to be and heartened by the past support I've received from the noble Comte Bougiedure I will be contacting him to see if he is able to bring influence to bear on my securing the appointment as I am sure he'd love to see me in that post and would have every confidence in me"!
Announcing he had nothing further to say upon the matter the docteur merely gave a knowing wink (
) to the reporter and went on his way.
It looks very much like a case of watch this space but whoever these 'agents of sedition' are they best be alert as His Majesty's Royal Executioner looks to mean business and with that massive great sword he seems to carry around everywhere not many would fancy being in their shoes!
