Friends, gentlemen & ladies,
Fortune smiles upon you by way of this open invitation, to one and all, to attend my lavish party this coming month in Week3.
Since becoming His Majesty's Royal Executioner some months ago I have yet to be employed in my trade and not one solitary head has fallen into a basket at my feet! Doh! So, in order to keep up my skills and learn from the efforts of others, I am hosting the spectacular 'Hack off a Head' Party at my club during the course of which there will be an 'entertainment session' where all guests are invited to try their skills at removing a head, in this case a large pumpkin on the body of a mannequin.
A prize of 50 livres....50!!....will go to the individual who is deemed to show the most promise at the craft of beheading. So, come along bring your ladies and pit your skills against the ROYAL EXECUTIONER!
Bastian Anton De'Ath Regimental Docteur, Paris Guard Physician to the people of Paris ROYAL EXECUTIONER

OOC: You'd be better off doing this in July when people aren't past the orders deadline already!

It is meant for next turn Sam, not this one as orders had to be in last Saturday!

Ah, fair, I was just confused! (Although the thought of Doctor D'Eath organising a party and telling everyone too late does have a certain narrative charm).

OOC: I'm thinking it might be fun to do this as a skill roll with 2 SP for the winner (not Doctor D'Eath as he's a professional, but you can have a ref 1 SP bonus for a cool party idea).
What do you think? Medical ability roll?

What do you think? Medical ability roll? I'd use two handed sword (the more similar weapon in the game to the axe of an executioner)... You could roll 1d20 (or 3d6, as you prefer) against it, the one obtaining a greater difference being the winner. Those rolling higher either don't hit the "neck" or don't fully sever it.

What do you think? Medical ability roll? Yes, not a bad idea at all Sam and also Lluis has also chipped in with the suggestion it be a 2-H sword which is quite handy as the good Docteur has a nice family heirloom 2-H sword so that can be the one used, it's a fine blade remember so ideal as an executioner's weapon! The SP's are also a bit of aa sweetener for people to attend and I'm sure the noble Comte de Bearne is itching to join in the fun!

OOC: Mechanically, I think Hulluame's suggestion of a two handed sword roll is good and I'll narrate the results.

Doctor De’Ath,
I regret that I will not be able to attend your charmingly named “Hack off a Head” party at Hunter’s in the third week of July as I have a prior engagement attending upon His Majesty at the Palais du Louvre for most of the month. I have little doubt that I will be fantasizing that the pumpkin headed strawman is actually one of the many verbose junior ministers droning on about some piddly matter or such. Encloses is 15L to help you defray the cost of the prize.

Cher Bastian,
although i really appreciate your creativity when it comes to extravagant party themes, i must admit, that it offends my personal taste of a party a trifle. So I will not attend your party. Please don´t take it as a personal offence, since it isn´t. Only the difference in tasteful entertainment between the both of us seems to prevent my attending your party. Nonetheless I wish you an entertaining night and enjoy the pumpkin feast.
Yours Valerie
