Was just wondering, from a tactics point of view. Do people think its better to increase SL no matter what in any month, even if it leads them to carrying forward a negative double their SPs the next? Or should they try and play it so they stay just under the required Sp's for advancement, and carry forward a huge boost to advancement the next, with a much reduced negative SP when they do advance.
Was just looking at VVs stats this month, another sp she would have increased SL, but given her a huge -14 sp to make up if she had increased.
Of course, Im not a good enough player yet to get all the rules, and there is a lot of chance, but i am trying to grasp it.

My view is that it's almost always better to go for the increase if you can, mechanically.
The only time that I can recall a PC dropping straight back down again that was due to financial issues! The only other way I can see it happening is if a PC spends the following month studying, has a several month No FC penalty and other exceptional circumstances.
Part of that is because higher SL frequently gives the opportunity for more SP from clubs.
Generally, over time, I've seen that the system we have mostly works to the advantage of players. Especially at the higher SLs when they're requiring more and more; it's less noticable at the lower SLs.

I always push to raise SL if I possibly can.
