First Voice Are the reviews for Stick it up your Tutu! in?
Second Voice No, delivery of the Voix de Paris can be awfully slow when you are expecting news .
First Voice You aren’t nervous, are you?
Second Voice I am always nervous. The denizens of Paris can be so fickle. One month they love, the next they revile you.
First Voice Indeed, what is a humble performer to do?
Second Voice Around the tavern, I heard that one of the recently elevated lordlings has been asking around for artists that would be willing to be taken on as protégés.
First Voice Heaven Forbid! Life is challenging enough without hitching your carriage to the whims of the aristocracy! None of them would know good art if it was used to hit them over the head! Baron Huillame is a possible exception but the rest of them? Bah!
Second Voice [nervously] I would ask you to be careful saying that name out loud. There are snoops in the wings!
First Voice Bah! Still you wouldn’t consider it.
Second Voice Become a protégé? To be secure in my income? To achieve social improvement? To get someone else to pay for my supplies and education? All for the minimal consideration of creating a work or two at someone else’s direction? Indeed I would!
First Voice You have no self-respect!
Second Voice Self-respects is all fine and good. But it doesn’t put food in your stomach or a roof over your head.

fist voice: can you believe? the self deluding Emperor Claude has taken refuge in a church
second voice: but, wasn't he suspected to be possessed by Devil? do now Church protect such cases?
first voice: I don't know, would a Devil possessed be able to enter a church? Wouldn't he be scared of the power of God?
second voice: good point. Maybe the Inquisition should send him an exorcist...
first voice: well, whatever it may be, I guess we'd better leave this to the Inquisitors. They sure know better than us about Fevil issues...
