My dear Sir,
I trust by now you will have heard of my recent misfortune but I thought it only fitting that I contact you direct to offer my sincere apology for the matter and trust that you can see it was all just a terrible mistake.
I'd be happy to provide you with any future medical needs you may require, free of charge, by way of some material recompense but, of course, I need to be a free man to do so. Therefore I was just wondering as to whether you could be so good as to speak up at my forthcoming trial and inform the judge of your understanding and seek his dismissal of the charge against me.
God bless you.

Msr. Spaghetti,
I have your missive and find it quite bizarre. I would sooner trust my medical care to my horse than a scoundrel such as yourself. What you have done has disgraced you utterly in the eyes of Paris and I will have justice, either in court or in the streets.

Pvt de Miremont,
A scoundrel!! What, but, how...… after reading my full explanation of what transpired you respond is such an unforgiving manner. Shame on you sir, I did have you down as a man of integrity, one who would surely understand how misfortune and ill-luck has hounded me to such a sorry state, me an upstanding physician and friend to the sick and my fellows here in Paris.
I would have you know that, fortunately, your views are in the minority here and many are the messages of support to me at this troubled time. I am relying upon the common sense of the CPS to dismiss the charge and I trust then that you will recognize justice has been served and this will bring an end to the matter.

Pvt de Miremont,
So not even the curtesy of a response. I guess I should not be surprised considering I am dealing with a commoner, a man who sole achievement appears to amount to securing the position of a private soldier.
I wouldn't be in this sorry mess if that tart of yours hadn't started bawling her head off and refused to listen to my explanation of the circumstances. God only knows what you see in the woman, surely it can't be a physical attraction since she's a face like a slapped arse and the physique of a twig in winter. Perhaps the pair of you are ideally suited, there has been talk of possible wedding plans but should that transpire one can only hope there will be no offspring, a truly awful prospect for the rest of us to contemplate!
One thing is for sure this whole situation has given me cause to reflect upon my future career and I now realise that medicine is not the path for me. If one of your lowly status can gain admission to His Majesty's Army and the good people of France are left having to rely upon your person to defend our homeland we are indeed in a most precarious situation. The ranks of the military cry out for competency and leadership, so it would be wrong of me to leave His Majesty lacking and the Kings Musketeers seem a most suitable avenue to both fulfill the aim of doing just that whilst also allowing a man of my disposition to justly seek satisfaction against you and your fellow curs in the Cardinals Guard.
I did send one of the girls from the Slipper to deliver my missives to you but she returned saying that she was unable to do so in person as you were occupied with latrine duties, how apt that the CG have detailed a turd to deal with turds!

Msr.,
I appreciate your willingness to reveal your true self to Paris society with your behavior. The less said of it the better. I expect weakness of character from a “doctor” to prostitutes, but you have sunk to a low that would make a swineherd blush.
I can ignore childish insults from a disgraced fool, but I cannot ignore Emmelina’s reputation.
I will see justice done in blood, with swords. I hope your skill at arms is as good as your skill at insults.
And I suggest you bring a doctor to the duel. You will need him, or an undertaker.
