Gentlemen,
I must apologize for my absence. His majesty, our king, required services at the front, and though the Queen's Own were not called, I could not stand idly as men of greater stature, and some of less, set their lives in danger to serve France and the safety and security of all we hold dear. I would not be a man, much less be French, if I did not mark my mettle as they marked theirs.
But alas, I have returned to Paris! And Alas, shall we mourn our fallen comrades, in my own regiment, the Queen's Own, Subaltern, Massif Orne Cheval. Please come and celebrate our comrades, that they did live, love, and lead us.
All are welcome (except that dreaded regiment, the Dragoon Guard). Bring mistresses, carouse, and be merry as our comrades would have wished. Tell stories of their bravery and conquests and remember them as they would wish to remember us.
Sieur Jean-Pierre Laurent Queen's Own Carabiniers, Lieutenant
OOC: Party Hunter's, 3rd week of September, all invited including mistresses (excepting DG).

Madame Helen Bacque, to Lieutenant le Chevalier Jean-Pierre Laurent, Greetings!
Chevalier Jean-Pierre,
Congratulations upon your recent knighthood, which is doubtless well-deserved.
Having been absent from Paris you are perhaps unaware that Lieutentant Renald de la Azur of the Dragoon Guards has already secured the services of the Canon of Paris to officiate at a service of remembrance for all the fallen in the final week of September (to be followed by a wake at his club). Many Parisians, including myself, have already undertaken to attend.
I appreciate that your regiment and his own have some longstanding differences of opinion, but it would seem rather unchivalric to purposely make those not connected to this 'choose sides' as it were.
Perhaps it might be gallante to schedule your own memorial event for a different week ?
Madame Helen Bacque

Chevalier,
Your invitation has been brought to me and I would be honoured to join you with my belle Angnes. I note that you are generous in your invite unlike a certain other gentleman in offering your time with large and small in status alike. I would welcome the opportunity to be amongst our military heroes and offer my thanks for the sacrifice of comrades no longer able to quaff a good bordeaux. I shall see you in the last week of the month.
Regards,
Jacques D'Mestos

Madame Helen Bacque,
Thank you, my absence has left me outside of the normal social circle. Yes, my celebration of the fallen will indeed have to be rescheduled, for the third week, at Hunter's. I am grateful for your keen eye on these matters as our brethren are due the respect their sacrifice deserves.
Kind regards,
Sieur Jean-Pierre Laurent Queen's Own Carabiniers, Lieutenant

Chevalier Jean-Pierre,
Always a pleasure to be of service.
I regret that prior commitments will keep me away from your memorial event but trust that it will be well attended and prove to be a fitting send-off for your former regimental colleague.
Helen Bacque
