*CLUNK*
Father Adam looked around, trying to identify the offending piping who had just disturbed his working. For weeks now he had been working on these documents, the accounts. HA!!! Accounts. In the most basic of forms maybe. The previous chancellor had been criminal at the kindest. At worst, he had allowed the Bishop to use the accounts as his personal banking, some of the sums moved through startling in the least.
"ALGERS!!!! ATTEND!!!!!!"
Leaning back from his desk, admiring the folder of paper he had created, the evidence to bring the Bishop down. Proofs of illicit transfers of monies, and most damning in the eyes of the Mother Church, the fixing of the day book so that due to the Cardinal's Office were suppressed. By his calculation some 2000 livres missed from payment and instead paid to the Bishop himself directly.
"Father, you called?" A head poked around the door attempting to weigh the humour of the Father. With a broad smile, "Come in Algers, I believe we may be at a junction point in our fortunes."
This clearly confused the young cleric, and he thought for a moment about raising a hand and reminding the Father that this room was a junction for the pipework and steam works. But yet somewhere deep in his mind an alarm bell sounded, reminders of times past when flying objects and un announced naps. In an act so pure, Algers lowered his hand and smiled at the Father.
"Hmmmpft. Well then, Take these documents back to storage. I have found what I want," a hand resting on the folder "and I will see that arrogant ass lose his mitre. He forgets who he has wronged, and I have yet to shoot."
Algers collected the loose documents into the storage boxes, picking them up and placing them on the cart. "Father, you think this is the way forward?"
Adam stopped and stood still for a moment, contemplation clear on his face. "Yes Algers, consequences."
