Dear Friends and the people of Paris,
Now, I'm a man who has seen a good few things in life, recognising that there are some individuals out there who are less than scrupulous and will seek to walk a road that transgresses our laws and moral expectations. However, even I was not prepared for the shock that one such individual is...... none other than France's current Minister of Justice!!
Can you believe it, the rogue only turned up at my new Offices in the Public Safety Ministry with a bag full of livres and sought to 'buy me off' from arresting that despicable villain, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicholas Lyon. It turns out that this so called Minister of Justice, a fellow whose worthless name I can't bear myself to utter, is a good friend of Lyon's and was trying to save him from the Courts. Naturally, being the incorruptible paragon of virtue that I am, I dismissed his illegal bribe and sent him scurrying away from my Office, especially when he saw me reach for a quill and arrest warrant, with the words "I'll becoming for you now scoundrel, who do you think you are trying to bribe the Commissioner of Public Safety"!
He may have escaped for now but I'll soon catch up with him at Government and have him packed off to the Bastille and then arraigned before the Courts quicker than you can say "Thank God, now that we have Lord De'Ath as our Public Safety Commissioner he'll make sure we're all safe and that traitors and criminals are cleared off of our streets tout suite, what a brilliant and nice man he is".
