May I be among the first to congratulate you upon your recent appointment to the Office of Minister of State.
Lord de Bearne will be a hard act to follow but I have every confidence that you will do your utmost to continue the excellent work he achieved and progress the efforts of the Ministry that he did so much to strengthen and improve.
Now, I write to you upon a most pressing matter.....that of the post of Commissioner of Public Safety. The last few years have seen the Office grossly mishandled, the current incumbent is nothing more than a hapless buffoon who has only remained in situ due to scurrilous, underhand, bribes and questionable influence! Long have I argued for his removal and prosecution for serious failings, indeed seeking to alert His Majesty to the fellows numerous flaws but he was able to circumvent or deflect my warnings.
Fortunately the time of your own appointment has immediately preceded that of the CPS job and you are now in position to bring about an end to this travesty and, instead, install an individual who can really get to grips with the problems of national security that threaten our King and Country. That person is me, yes one of France's most famous sons! Having served in a number of prestigious posts over the years, mingled with the very cream of French society, attended to His Majesty as his personal physician, currently docteur to such elites as Crown Prince Gaston, Duc de Vendome & Grand Duke Maximillian etc, the current Minister of Foreign Affairs....the list is almost endless Your Grace, I feel somewhat embarrassed to detail it all BUT I felt it was important for you to fully recognise the exemplary qualities of the candidate at your disposal. I'm sure you will see the complete sense in utilising those qualities and skills as soon as possible by dismissing any others who may step forward and appointing me, finally, to the post of Commissioner of Public Safety.
I can assure you, you'll not regret it and I'll be sure to guarantee as my top priority your own personal safety and protection, I hate to speak ill of anyone but there have also been some disquieting rumours that the current CPS is in the pay of the English, a spy no less....quite shocking and I'll get to grips investigating this too as a priority. France needs true patriots and not some turncoat who seeks to sell out King and Country for a few foreign pounds.
