Mes Sieurs et Mes Amis,
As some of you know, I suffered a heart break and betrayal earlier this year from a man I believed to be honorable, just, and devout. I thought, perhaps foolishly, that the Holy Spirit might once again grace me with the gift of matrimony. My imagination out ran my experience, and I learned a hard lesson in the disappointments of the heart.
What followed was a period of grief, mourning, and contemplation. I sought discernment of what I might actually be called to do and how I might serve our beloved King and our sacred France.
I now understand better that self-improvement is a perpetual value. To learn, study and come to understand how one might improve oneself each day is key to making oneself of service. I now see this year as a great opportunity and I have dedicated myself to self-improvement and service now and in the future.
I hope to return to my previous post as Matron of the Hostel in November. I see now that God has called me to serve women and to help others along the path of self-improvement. I know that I have done so in a small way moderating, in my role at Directorix, some of the worst influences that actresses of the theatre suffer. I hope to serve a larger circle of Parisian women as Matron. My fondest hope is that you, my friends, will support my service when the term of the current matron ends in November.
I thank all of you who have helped me in this process of discernment (even you Baron De'Ath).
With a hopeful heart,
Heloise D'Armagnac Directorix of the Johi Theatre

Madame,
Baron......Baron....I must point out to you that such a title is but one that I hold, one that is surpassed by that of Viscomte and so I am addressed now as the Viscomte De'Ath rather than as a mere Baron!
It somewhat saddens me that you suffered the experience that you did with that wretched Lyon fellow BUT as much as I tried to warn you, to stand up for your honour by confronting the rogue in duel, even going so far as to ask that inept duo, the Commissioner of Public Safety & the Grand Inquisitor to prosecute him, my warnings fell upon deaf ears so you really only have yourself to blame.
However, I'm not a man to let past differences taint an association so I do wish you the best in your future endeavors as I believe you have a good heart and genuinely seek to help those less fortunate in society. Should you be successful in securing a return to your previous post as Matron then get in touch as I may very well be able to offer an exclusive deal to the said establishment wherein medical care and attendance can be secured at a most reasonable comprehensive price! Who'd want to miss out on a bargain eh?!
Respectful regards,
Viscomte Bastian Anton De'Ath Premier (and popular) physician to the people of Paris Secretary of State Past holder of many important posts
P.S As you are also aware a man in my position has many contacts and is able to exert the necessary 'pressures' on behalf of those he feels deserve such, the position of Matron that you seek is one that I am confident I could assist with....if you'd like to arrange to visit me I'm sure we could discuss how I can help. What's more, if I recall, I never did get the chance to fully show you my impressive sausage collection that you expressed an interest in viewing so we could resolve two matters at the same time.

Monsieur le Viscomte
My apologies for the oversight. Of course I recall your elevation to Viscomte! A worthy celebration of a well deserved recognition.
Your generous offer of care for the residents of the Hostel is most welcome. But of course I would need to regain my position to accept your offer. I know in this past year that a number of former residents have come to me for help after their stay. My hope for my next term is to work to find useful, stable employment for resident women as they get on their feet. I have some practical ideas which I hope to put into place soon.
As for social time together, I frankly thought that your hostility towards Nicholas wound up extending to me. It seems perhaps it has not. I would welcome an evening at one of our clubs to catch up. So many things have become clear since last we spoke in earnest.
Your friend H. D'Armagnac
