Having taken leave of my senses and with an overabundant confidence in my abilities and availability, I have offered to take over GM responsibilities from Louis XIII. He and I are still hashing out some of the details but I expect a formal announcement of the plan going forward this next week.
Some caveats:
1. I want to continue to play Jacques Bougiedure. There are some difficulties arising from separating what I would know as a player from what I know as a GM. I plan to address most of this by locking my own applications and orders before looking at those of other players. I ask that the other players trust me not to unfairly advantage him based on GM knowledge.
2. I would move turn submission deadline to midnight GMT. The weekend is my most flexible time for serious gaming and I would breakup turn processing over Friday night, Saturday and Sunday (U.S. time)
3. I am going to automate as much of the turn processing as possible. This is will require players to submit their turns in a specific format (a variation of the excellent turn sheet that Jim designed). I am willing to grant a few exceptions but need the majority to use it.
4. I am not as good of a creative writer as Sam is. Players should expect their returns and the press to suffer.
I don’t know for how long this would go. Time is a commodity for me (as it is for everyone). It will likely hinge on the success in automating much of the routine turn processing to allow me to focus on adjudicating the exceptions.
Liminal EG! Forever! Garrett

Well done Garrett, I can't help but recall "Cometh the hour, cometh the man"!
Liminal has been a most entertaining game and anything that continues it, even in a reduced form, is to be welcomed. I'm certainly happy to continue and give what support I can.
As we English (well Bonaparte / Confederacy supporter English types) say, cheers me old mucker for volunteering!

Garrett,
Perhaps, I have also taken leave of my senses -- as I am volunteering to help out with the press. You and Sam work out what you need to work out, and I will arrange my schedule to allow for time to write things up. Time is tight, but on the plus side, I have been a free-lancer or staff writer for news organizations and corporations for 40 years now.

PS Garrett, thanks.

Just so people have an idea of schedule, press and appointments up tomorrow, then appointment deadline this weekend. Then turn deadline the weekend after that (so a week delay).
I'll send round an email making sure everyone knows about the change of hands either tomorrow or Thurs.

I will initially write up the press but will ask for your help if I start to feel that my muse is blocked. G

First of all ,sorry for not having posted for some days while this is duscussed. Thanks Garret to take the torch. needless to say, ask for any help you might need, be it in writing news, rules or whatever I can. Now two practical questions: - will the emai ladress to send the turns be the same?
- I guess you will need some time to adapt. Will you publish soon an estimated timetable
Though I understand this is for October, as Spetembr wil lbe kept as expected and be the last turn of our dear Louis XIII before his abdivation on Louis XIV...

That's still flexible at the moment; I'm getting my notes into a usable form and sending them to Garrett over the weekend. I'm definitely doing the next turn and then we're going to see where we are after that.

A few days out of touch after the world came to an end. And what do I have to conceive? Liminal is reborn anew! Huzzah!
Great news. Thank you Garrett for taking over as GM. And Thank you Jeff for offering help with the 'Voix de Paris', the only newspaper worth a read these days without becoming depressed. Ok, nearly. If I were more experienced with Excel sheets, I would offer some help additionally to Jim with the automated turn sheets. But since I am not, I can only offer some help to Jeff writing some part for the 'Voix de Paris', should he lack time sometimes in the future.
Having said that, I am looking forward to continue playing Liminal EG with the same verve and commitment as before.
Yours Karsten
BTW, Sam? I would appreciate it, if you would join the squad of players, if your time allows it.

I've actually discussed this with Garrett and I'm going to take a few months off from staring at EG spreadsheets and then join the game!

I joined this game on its second turn, in August 2019.
Since then, times have been hard. I guess all of us have seen acquaintances, friends, or even relatives falling ill, or even dying from this pandemic. Maybe even some of you have been ill too (and if so, I hope fully recovered). We have endured lockdowns, restrictions, etc.
As some of you know, I'm a nurse, and I work at an Emergency Room. It's a small specialized hospital, so we have not felt the whole blunt of the pandemics, but things have not been easy. Changing schedules and protocols nearly on a daily basis at its beginning (our record is that the one released at morning wa already obsolete at evening, on March 18th 2020), softening all restrictions latter, but still some of them are on. many among my coworkers have been ill, even some have died (God have them).
Along all this time, Liminal EG has offered me a release valve, so helping me to endure it.
So, thanks Sam for your hard work, and to endure all our pestering too. You left the banner high. I hope you'll be able to join us again soon.
And thanks Garret to take it over. Sam has left you a sound game, but also a high score to beat. Needless to say, ask for any help you might need, and I'll see if I can.
