Sir,
Your behaviour in insulting a Lady, and then accepting the challenge of a mere civilian, bound by honour to defend his wife, is not the sort of thing that should be acceptable! They that serve to grant us the benefit of civilization should not be subject to the cut and thrust of the regimental Sabre!
Had our former Commander been still in command, I am sure he would have given you a severe talking to, and possibly dismissed you from the Regiment!
I ask that you consider your future, and plan for it to be elsewise than within the best Regiment in the world, the Dragoon Guards!
Resign! Resign I say!
