Cher Georges,
I keep hoping you and all the family are well, despite news about the Spanish troops moving again…
This month the Court has moved to Picardy, where some issues needed His Majesty’s attention. Of course, both as Minister of State and Commander of the guards I (along with my family) accompanied Him and attended the Government meeting that was summoned there.
After it, and as I had nothing to do in the Provincial Parliament meeting, I returned to painting a little, as time has passed since I last had the opportunity, and you know how I love it.
We also took the opportunity to take Tristesse to visit her grandmother. It was an emotive meeting, as the old woman had not seen her since Arnold death. I guess she didn’t expect to see her again, or at least not so soon, as she was really surprised to receive us all. It’s glad to be able to give this joy to a fallen comrade’s mother…
We return to Paris next month, where I guess we will be busy again . The king will formally title me as a Duke in the Royal Ball, and he ha said I will be made Grand Duc on the next one…
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me, and be careful if the Spanish raids reach our lands.

Cher Georges,
I'm glad the news that reach paris tell the situation of the border is calming again. I hope you all stay safe and well.
We returned to Paris without incident after the stay at Picardy, despite the snow clogging the roads. Winter is not the best time to travel, but the king has his duties and agenda...
Once in Paris I could attend the races along with my friend, Lord Bougiedure, and the rest of the month was kept busy, as HM has renewed his trust on me as Minister of State, and while a great honor, it also means lots of work, among receptions, Government meetings, etc. This month it was an envoy of Sweden (I guess he would find Paris weather warm, but i'd disagree with him on this)
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me, and be careful if the Spanish raids reach our lands.

Cher Georges,
I heard the Spanish are again making incursions in the border. Please, be careful, as war m ay increase again, though I heard our lands are not affected right now.
Here it has been a good month. HM was quite pleased with my speech at the Government meeting, and we had a Ball where I had the honor to meet HM the King of England, along with her Queen. I was formally elevated to Duc de Déols in this ball.
The races season keeps on, and I once again attained them with Lord Bougiedure, though my horses keep performing poorly…
But the best piece of news is that little Renné will have a sibling soon, a s Emelin is carrying another child.
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
I hope war is not affecting our family or lands, as my reports tell me the situation is becoming stab le, as our troops keep the Spanish incursions at bay without defeating them.
In Paris this month I acted as best man for my friend Lord Bougiedure. It has been the splendid e vnt that the wedding of a Grand Duc must be, officered by His Eminence the Cardinal, and everyone who counts in Paris attended it.
There was another Ball, this time to entertain the Pope’s envoy, and we again attended it to honor him. In this ball HM invested me formally as Grand Duc of Déols. It’s to admire how gracious may Emelin be on the dance floor despite her pregnancy.
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me..

Cher Georges,
I heard those stubborn Spanish keep with their incursions in our border, though I heard this time more in the Eastern part of it, so I hope you’ve been not molested by the war.
In Paris the races season ended with the Derby, and this time Silver Kitten won it! Emelin and I attended again with the Grand Ducs of Chévreuse, and we all enjoyed this race, and even had the honor of having the Queen accompany us in watching it.
This has been a busy month in the court, with two Balls and a reception of a Spanish envoy. Our ancestral lands of Béarne are now a County, and HM decided to elevate out family title.
Those Spanish nobles are either confusing or traitors, as this Mrquis of los Blabases keeps talk i ng about diplomacy, ignoring the incursions their troops are doing in our borders… I didn’t like how he looked at Emelin either…
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
I became tired of the Spanish incursions, and this time we’re sending an Army to finish them , so, again, take care, as war will increase in the border, but sure our troops will be enough to return them to their side of the border.
This has been a relatively quiet month for me in Paris. I’ve been quite busy with Government meetings, though Emelin has not attended most of them ,as she needs some rest at this stage of pregnancy.
I also dedicated some time to painting, as you know is something I love to do and have little time for it.
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
It’s with broken heart this time I write you, as Emelin passed away this month while giving birth to our daughter. She had complications and began to bleed, and not even the best efforts of Dr Delafosse, the assisting physician, could save her, despite being one of the best doctors in Paris…
Of course, I didn’t attend he ball that was scheduled this month, as I was not in the mood for it. And had to arrange the things for little Mireia (that is how the baby will be named. In fact, as you will understand, I was not In the mood to do much more than a little painting this month, though I attended the Government meeting, as I cannot, even I n those circumstances, forgive my duties.. .
I don’t know what I will do now without her, as the children are growing, and I’ m n ot sure to be able to raise them alone...
This July I will also have to organize both, the funeral for Emelin and the christening of little Mireia… I hope you can attend them, as you know Emelin appreciated you all too, and your company might comfort me In those dark moments.
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
I'm glad you could attend both, Emelin's funeral and Miraia's christening. As you could see, as HE the Cardinal RIchelieu was with the Court at Flanders, his brother, HE Alphonse Louis the Plessis was kind enough to celebrate both ceremonies.
It was glad to have you with me at those moments. Along with my friends that could remain in Paris (some of them were with the Court too) really conforted me. The house seems empty without Emelin, though the children boices keep me busy there and also conform me when I feel alone. Luckily for them, they are all too young to realize the tragedy that has befallen to us.
I guess I take some time for painting now, as you know that's an activity that has always raised my spirit, and I'm not sure to be a good company to my friends (or in social acts) for the upcoming months...
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
I hope your return to Béarne was uneventful. Hree the hose keep feeling emty to me, despite the noise the children make. Renné's and Tristesse's nanies told me they are beginin gto ask for mom, realizing even at their youg age she's not here...
My duties as Miniser of State kept me busy this month. It is sad to attend balls, though, as each good dancing step reminds me about how Emelin danced, and each couple about my lonliness now... My friend the Grand DUch of CHévreuse and his wife try to confort me, but they are not always successful. I'm grateful to their efforts though.
Not even painting seems to comfort me now, as the results are eing not the ones I expectted. After the paintings I unveiled before, I'd be ashamed to show my current work. I guess I'll have to work more on it...
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
I hope you're al well at Béarne. According the reports I'm receiving, the border is quiet as it has not been for long time.
Here in Paris there's little to tell. I've kept painting (again to disappointing results) and attending my duties. My fireds say they see me a little better, but attending balls where I see people enjoying the happiness of the dance with their couples, and then returning alone to my empty house id hard. Maybe I should take their advice (as well as the one the Commissioner for Public health, the reputed doctor De'ath gave me when Emeli ndied) and try to open my heart to another worthy lady, though I fear my heart could comapre her with Emelin, something that would be unfair to her...
Time will tell, though my friends urge me to return to the Parisian life. They say Emelin would not have liked to see me as I'm now. maybe they're right...
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
I'm afraid I should have kept my mouth shout about the military situation in the Spanish border, as no sooner I said it was quiet as it has not been for long time, it seems to be moving again. I hope the Frontier Regimet wil lbe able to hold, though, as accorind my reports the incursions were minor. Be careful in any case, as it's clear we cannot trust the southern neighburs.
Here in Paris, I finally took my friends' advice. I'm not Job to keep sitting on the ashes when missfortune strikes me, and I have a risponsability to my children (and I count Tristesse among them), who need a maternal figure in their lives.
I'm not sure if you remember Mmlle Bougiedure from Emelin's funeral or Mireia's bapthism. She's the younger sister of my friend, the Grand Duc of Chévreuse, and the daughter of the Marquis of Dampierre, and she was dumped by her beau, Dr De'Ath) I think I told you about him in my last letter) last month (this man seems to be better with medicine tha nwith women).
I decided to ask her permission to visit her, and she has accepted me. She accompained me this month to the Races (where, by the way, one of my orses won) and to the Government meeting. She's a good and virutous lady, that understands my feelings and I'm sure she understands I'm not trying to have her taking Emelin's place, but to start anew with her. She also knows the children, and already has their trust and love, as they have already met in several ocasions.
I hope this can be the begining of a new live. One where Emelin will ever be present, but, as my firends (and also Dr De'Ath in his knowledge as Doctor) told me, there's place for more in my life, and revelling in pain and dark must not be the answer...
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
It seems military situation calms again In the borders. I hope this will allow you all to have a quiet winter (and that I’m not calling devil by saying it)…
Here in Paris things are quiet too. Brigitte is as loveable as she seemed, if a little insistent in religious matters, but if that pleases her, I guess attending mass more often will not hurt…
This month was full of Royal Balls, including the Reception to the Elector of Brandemburg-Prussia and the king bestowing a new Duchy to my friend the Grand Duc of Chévreuse, nearly not giving me time for anything else. Brigitte accompanied me to all of them, but she seems not too used to such events. I’m sure she will with time…
Little else worth naming has occurred this month in Paris, as people seems to be readying for the winter too.
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
I’m glad to hear situation in southern border keeps calm. With winter arriving, it would be good to have some quite time for you all to spend a quiet Christmas.
Here in Paris we have had dome duels, as it seems Dr. De’Ath had some honor issues with other men (it seems something about a young lady caused it). Despite the fame, those honor matters are rarer than I expected when I reached Paris. Well, at least there have not been any deaths on those duels…
The month was again full of Royal balls, and Brigitte seems to have improved in her dancing skills, though her diatribes against drinking embarrassed her a little (it seems I like women that don’t know when to keep their ideas to themselves).
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
I’m glad to hear situation in southern border keeps calm. It seem the Spanish Frontier Regiment is keeping their patrols down to now, so enjoy the peace they are buying for you all.
His Majesty renewed his trust on me as minister of State for yet another year. That’s a true honor, and it is even said he will give me another title this February, at the Royal Ball planned for the second week. God bless him and his generosity.
After thinking about it for long time, I decided to change home, as my town house had too many memories with Emelin, and once I decided to start again I could not allow this to affect Brigitte. Not that I will ever forget Emelin, but life has to go on, and Brigitte does not deserve a house where her memories loom over me. So I’ve bought a Chateau in Ille de la Citée and moved there, with Brigitte helping me with the move.
She accompanied me to the horseraces too, where her brother the Grand Duc of Chevreuse had invited us.
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me. Huillaume

Chère Georges,
I’ve heard the Spaniards seem to keep threatening but not yet acting. I really trust our Frontier regiments to be able to keep them at bay.
Here in Paris, I decided to sell the house where I lived with Emelin. As I said past month, too many good memories, and, should my relation with Brigitte come to good end, I don’t want to condemn her to living with such a ghost…
The month has kept busy, with Royal Balls, Government meetings and the baptism of the son of my friend Bougiedure, the Grand Duc of Chevreuse and Brigitte’s brother. I shared with another of his sisters the honor to be the godfather, and the baptism was given by the Cardinal Armand Jean de Plesis himself. The ceremony was magnificient, as was the dinner offered by Jacques at his mansion.
Please, kiss our sisters and embrace our brothers for me
