The Social Whirlwind by Le Mole
Apparently June is the month for military heroics and thespian pursuits. Which is all very well, but gives your humble scribe little to write about.
I hear the first night party went well, at least. Monseigneur de la Bassée at least understands the necessity of good host practice, providing drinks for everyone despite not partaking himself. Strangely, Monsieur Eau insisted on buying his own drinks all night. What could be the story there? And as for Subaltern Lannes, don't think my little birds didn't see you sneaking off to the bar to buy an extra bottle of wine as well as the ones already generously provided. (Overindulgence does seem to be becoming something of a pattern for Subaltern Lannes. Well done sir, well done indeed!)
Also seen having a good time at the party were Monsieur D'Applaud, naturally as he was pefomring alongside Monsieur Eau! Monsieur Aiguille and Mme Johi took time out from the merchant's business interests to hobnob in more cultured circles. Despite being kind enough to allow Subaltern Lannes and Mme. Acelina to join himself and Dame Emelin in their private box, Baron la Garde de Bearne certainly wasn't going to be seen mixing with the lower classes quite that much, so the two made their way to Bothwells instead.
And that really was everything of interest this month. Although Monseigneur de la Bassée did try hosting his traditional religious gettogether in the last week. Which absolutely nobody at all turned up to.

Romantic Interlude
By Yvonne de Villepin
Congratulations to Viscomte Gorne and Mme. Bacque!!! It seems our wild flower has finally been tamed as I hear the dashing Viscomte got down on one knee and Mme Helen was happy to say yes and there will be a wedding at the end of July!!! I am very very happy for both of you dears and promise not to ask about the possible pitter patter of tiny feet for at least three months!!! Poor Subaltern Lannes has less luck as his proposal to Mme Acelina was cruelly turned down even though it was in front of Baron Lagarde de Bearne and Dame Emelin how very embarassing!!! Maybe her family can help her see sense?!!!

ROME and its influence on the Parisian church
By Pastor Jacques
If I was to ATTEND a play that was advertised as BAWDY it would be to PROTEST it. I certainly would NOT host a party for the PLAY where people were encouraged to PARTAKE in the DEVIL'S DRINK. But I am a PREACHER from the OTHER church.
The HEATHENS have had ENOUGH of Monsigneur Robin and have LET him GO. Will he RETURN to Paris next month?
Monsigneur Lachapelle has done so WELL he is now being STUDIED as a model for how to PREACH to the HEATHENS in PERSIA. I do not KNOW who is studying him. I assume it is the POPE.
Mentions in Dispatches: Monsigneur Lachapelle

Reports from the Front by General Georges Boulle (rtd.)No definite breakthroughs or disasters. Small bloody mercies. The Spanish Frontier Division saw some inconclusive clashes on the field, with its Commander choosing to act cautiously to limit casualties. Good bloody move and quite right that he should be recognised with a promotion. Lieutenant de la Azur greatly impressed his boss. Not only was he mentioned in Dispatches, the Commander has made a recommendation that Lieutenant de la Azur be raised to the ranks of the nobility and is awarded the Croix du Roi. Well done lad, but don't forget your roots. For some reason the commander of the Brigadier-General decided that the command should take a position closer to the enemy than the actual troops and got his head blown off for his trouble. Fortunately, Subaltern D'Blancheur was more sensible, finding himself promoted to Ensign back home. Next month the Commander has announced that the focus at the Spanish Frontier will shift to taking down their defensive fortifications. Deaths: None! Promotions: Arnold d'Blancheur Titles: Renald de la Azur Medals: Renald de la Azur (Croix du Roi) Mentions in Dispatches: Renald de la Azur While the Flanders army managed to hold off the enemy it came at great cross, especially for the Second Brigade. The Brigade was driven from the field, with the Normandy Regiment taking heavy casualties and the French Guard getting crushed by the enemy while vastly outnumbered. Captain Bonbeur was lucky to survive and the brave lad even kept his courage enough to let out a roar of defiance. Deaths: None! Promotions: Jean Bonbeur Mentions in Dispatches: Jean Bonbeur
Not much to mention at Lorraine where the siege continues although I hear some of the lads managed to get some casks of ale from an abandoned cellar. Don't drink it all at once boys. Deaths: None!
We were ambushed in Savoy! Worst, it seems to be the start of the enemy raiding the area. We need some reinforcements, but we don't bloody well have any spare. This looks nasty and I think of the brave men of the frontier regiment. Next Month's Deployments Spanish Border - HL 10 (Incursion), Siege, Division Flanders - HL 10 (Open Warfare), Field, Army Lorraine HL 10 (Open Warfare), Siege, Division Savoy HL 4 (Raiding), Field

Limelight Reviews "Privates! Stand to Attention!"
I had high hopes for another rollicking bawdy show from a new fella, but phew, that was a stinker! No point in having the bawdy jokes if they aren't funny and these weren't. I'll admit that Johi is well worth it, but she can't bleeding act for toffee. Caught her forgetting her lines several times and while girlish giggling is normally pretty sexy, not when it's in a serious scene, love. Also, that Madame D'Andy was really ugly and looked like a bloke. If this is your best, take up knitting, Monsieur Eau.

Lottery Matters By Huillaume Lagarde de Béarne Director of the Lottery
The prize number this June is 08. Numbers 07 and 09 had secondary prizes. Any number ending in 8 will have its money back.
Sellings kept low, and there was no winner. So the prize for July is 2500 Cr for the exact number and 625 Cr for the adjacent ones.

Letters to the editor
Sir,
While we are most grateful to receive your excellent publication here at the Frontier - the complimentary deliveries to the Officers Mess are eagerly awaited - I feel that I cannot let your last edition pass without correcting a factual error. Normally extremely accurate, which is only to be expected from such a distinguished officer, your military correspondent General Boulle made one omission in this month's report. Certain events of note did indeed occur on the Lorraine Frontier, contrary to the published account
Although our Division was broken by a sortie, the 2nd Brigade stood fast, helped to a large extent by the actions of my colleague in the Picardy Musketeers, Sieur Guy D'Avaranches, who bravely led his company to seal off enemy forces which threatened our rear. In recognition of his courage he was promoted to Major, a further development in his meteoric career. I believe the reference to casks of ale in your report are in reference to the celebrations in the Mess afterwards. The omission was probably due to confusion caused by the full mobilization of our forces in the face of the many threats France faces, but I would be grateful if you would print this letter to memorialize one of the brave men leading our men in facing them.
Your most obedient servant,
Guillaume Fitzbraose Captain, Picardy Musketeers
