You can mount a rescue attempt. Note that the Church will offer his ransom next month so you don't have to.

He has a captive audience for his sermons now?

Oooo, an heroic mission to foreign lands; that seems the sort of adventure which could inspire a play. Despite my literary leanings, I can offer MA 6.

Hopefully the Church ransom will be accepted...
Not quite sure how this would work. A month just to get there then a month to execute the escape and return?
Arabic being the language required ?

A month to execute the escape and return.
And yes, Arabic. (I believe we've just seen a potential danger in expeditions! They require languages people are unlikely to have).

My friends, I have heard word of the capture of Monseigneur Robin and the apparent eagerness of at least one hearty soul to attempt a rescue. Perhaps, at this stage, caution is the most prudent action bearing in mind the combined difficulties of distance and enemy forces.
How recent did tragedy strike when a far more seemingly easier venture end in high cost and death.
Let us offer the safety of the man in our prayers but rely upon negotiators within the Church to be blessed with success when reaching out to the heathen for his ransom.

The ransom was rejected. Is Monseigneur Robin doomed?

It is certainly to be hoped not, but I fear that all those concerned about the fate of poor Abbé Robin may do at this point is pray that when his captors decide it in June, they choose to release him rather than send him to a martyr's death...

Then pray I shall, most earnestly. And if it is the Lord's will that the good Father be brought into his eternal care so soon, perhaps I shall write a play in his honour. Nothing bawdy, of course.
