Racehorse owners will be sent details separately.
This is more for racegoers.
Week 3 of January is "The Futurity" where new horses are entered to impress the assembled crowds.
A list of all racehorses, including which horses are racing and their odds, wille be up by annoucements deadline.
Attending the Races
There are several seating options here.
The Parisian masses crowd into the Grandstand. This only costs 1 Livre. It's very crowded, so no interaction with other characters (including duel cause) is possible. Food and drink are also banned, so carousing is not possible. It's where you watch and wager and nothing else. Attendance gains 1 SP, plus anohter SP if you bet on the winning horse.
The more classy among you may prefer seating in the pavilion for 10 Livres. Seating here is much less crowded, so carousing and toadying are both permitted. This gains 2 SP plus another SP if you back the winning horse.
Finally, those of you lucky enough to be friend's with a racehorse owner may get invited to the owner's box. The box can hold up to four characters (including mistresses and the owner!). Toadying and carousing are both possible here. Even better, there's a possibility a Royal may visit the box. And if the horse wins all guests go to the winner's circle, gaining 1d6 SP each. (Same SP for each guest!)
Betting
Characters can make side bets between themselves. If both characters describe the bet in the same way in their orders it takes place. Note that non financial bets (stay away from my mistress for six months) are up to characters to honour!
There are also tauts at the racetrack accepting any bet, according to the pubilshed odds.
Characters will get 1 SP for each 150 won (up to 900L, then it's 1 SP per 750 won).
Note that you can choose to back a specific horse without gambling.
