To the Regimental Commander, Normandy Regiment
Sir,
The lads are itching for a fight and the word in the Barracks is that the General Staff are looking for another regiment for the front. Why don't you put us down for that and we'll go show these bloody Spaniards what's what. Failing that, if you don't want to take the entire regiment, I'll just volunteer my company to shore up one of the frontier regiments for a bit.
Captain D'Mestos
(OOC: JD requests that the Normandy Regiment volunteer to the front. Failing that he will volunteer his company to the front)

To this eminence the cardinal,
may the blessings of our lord fall upon you. It is with great joy to see what wonders your works did to our beloved city of Paris, our sacred land of france and the shining reign of our beloved King Luis XIII. To be just a tiny part of such an enormous endavour is a pious way of serving our lord.
Therfore I respectfully ask your eminence to consider me Abbe Robin as your private secretary. As for my qualifications, I would like to gently show you the development of St. Quentin in which I have the honor to speak the gospels.
Respecfully I remain your most humble friend in christ.
Abbe Francois Robin, theological scholar
(ooC.: Abbe Robin applies as cardinals secretary)

The two officers finished the troops review and entered a tent. The two soldiers outside didn’t stand at attention as required, but the officers didn’t even notice (or maybe didn’t care). All of them were tired. The ragged clothing of the officers still allowed to distinguish them as a Flanders Frontier Regiment Major and a Guards Captain.
-The head count gave quite low numbers – said the Major
-Yes, Sir. What now, Regimental Commander? –asked the Captain
-What do you mean Regimental Commander? I’m just a Major
-An the only officer in the Regiment, so Commander by default. Me and my company are “only guests”, so to say,
-The Habsburg are in pursuit. Maybe we could delay them a little while we wait for reinforcements… -mused the Major
-Forgive my daring to suggest, Major, but there has been enough carnage, and the Regiment is in awful shape. New recruits and volunteers come, but they are still green, and while my own company is in a slightly better shape, we're few and tired, and rumor is they plan a full invasion. No way we can even delay them for long –answered the Captain.- My suggestion would be to avoid losses and try to defend the fortifications until reinforcements come and the green replacements harden themselves a little.
-Let me think this for a while – said the Major- now I need to sleep some hours, as I’m too tired to decide anything
OOC: Huillaume asks the Major in Command of the Flanders Frontier Regiment to act with cautious tactics as per 20.27 in November.

To the commanding officer of the Dragoon Guards,
It has been several months since the Guards have been allowed to take to the field against the enemies of our glorious King, I am hoping that I can convince you to put forward the regiment for service at the front.
Yours Lieutenant Renard de La Azur.

To the Captain Phillipe D'cote 2nd Squadron Commander,
Hope that this letter finds you in better health after your terrible fall in the inter regimental games with the Crown Prince Cuirassiers, I know that this is the second such fall in a short space of time and that your Back is giving you pain most of the time and that a position as an estate manager would suit you as a better position for the future. I have the luck to be in a position to know of such a position that is open at the minute.
Yours Lieutenant Renard de La Azur.

Lord Equerry,
forgive me to adress you again, but I'd feel as not fulfilling my duty should I not share those thoughts to you:
You doubtless know the situation at the front (probably better than myself, as my vision is limited to my zone), and you sure know things are not going well,. At least in the Flanders front, our troops are in poor shape and morale is low among them.
In this situation, the Frontier troops (brave men, but mostly uneducated) seem to see the presence of the Guards as a proof of His Magesty concern about them, so helping to keep what morale remains. My Company is still able to fight, and I'm frankly concerend about the possibility our recall at the end of Novemebter could be missunderstood by the Fronteir soldiers as if His Majesty abandons them to their luck (though you and me know better).
In this situation, I'd wish to submit to your wiser knonwldge of the overall situation, and despite my own eagerness to meet the King's appointment in December, if my company would better serve His Majesty's interests by returning to Paris or by remaning in the front, be it in the current Flanders one or wherever the General Inspector thinks we'd be more useful, until the situation improves.
Yours in the service of His Majesty
Captain Lagarde de Béarn 4th Company, KFG
OOC: Huillaume is asking the Equerry permission to keep volunteering his company for the Winter Campaign insead of retourning to Paris.
