Thanks for the explanations all the same, @huilaume.
It's a fair point that once you get above Private the brevet rank rules come into play, so it would make a difference for those characters (though exceptionally rare, I expect!).

A couple of questions about Expeditions
What is the exact timing of subsequent events?
In the January Voix the Chancellor announced that that an expedition to Holland was leaving 'at the end of the month'. So when exactly did / will the ship sail? In the last week of February ? Or in the first week of March (so that its monthly absence can be calculated more easily)?
(The February Voix wasn't much help with this, since it only mentioned that La Compagnie Hollandaise failed to raise the needed capital in time to invest).
So what happens if the destination of the Clerical Mission is not the same as a trade expedition (which will be most of the time since trade expeditions only happen one season in three)? Does the Archbishop (or Cardinal) granting permission for the expedition charter a merchant ship, perhaps guarded by a detachment of Cardinal's Guards under a Subaltern in the same way Royal Marines guard trade expedition? The Priest(s) have to get to their destination somehow...
If so, is the timing as follows?
Month 1
Priest requests to be sent on a mission to a specific destination appropriate to his order. Archbishop agrees, charters a ship, informs Colonel of the Cardinal's Guard that a detachment will be needed. The impending expedition announced.
Month 2
Other Priests wishing to go on the expedition seek permission from their own Archbishops. (Can investors invest as in Chancellor expeditions? Don't see any reason why not). Cardinal's Guard detachment assigned.
Month 3, Week 1 Expedition Sets Sail

If people want it formalised I'm happy to, but instinct says to me that generally crimes are too conditional to do on a simple dice roll. (Stealing is formalised because of the mechanical effects). But normally I'd think that things like how much evidence there is, what kind of situation has led to the crime, attempts to cover tracks etc. need to be taken into account.
That's the case.
The promoters for the Church is actually something on my list to add to the rulebook! The important one is that the upcoming round of priest promotions (we have two potential promotees after this turn and one the month after) is to curate, which is in the canon's power to grant.
Yes, although quite honestly NPCs committing crimes isn't likely to happen until random events are implemented.

26.1. Foreign Expeditions: In the last month of each season the Chancellor decides whether to send ships on a foreign expedition. In this case, it was sent as a Feburary pre monthly, which gave people a chance to invest in their downtimes. I'm not necessarily hard about this timing though and would be fine changing that if people think it's too sudden. RPwise I see it as the missionary travelling on a private merchant ship, rather than chartering one specifically. (The Church is rich but there are limits!) Which leads to the standard mechanical rolls etc. If people don't feel the need for more detail I'm good handwaving this a bit; we don't go into details about the logisticics of joining the frontier! Somewhat simpler. Before Month 1 - Priest announces publically request to be sent on a mission. Month 1 (As a premonthly) - Expedition sets off.

I accidentally had a mindfart and edited Gaston's post instead of quoting it. Hopefully the meat is still there!
