Since what follows is a suggestion regards forum organisation this seems the best place for it.
Seventeenth Century Paris had half a million inhabitants and was matched in size only by London. *
It's inconceivable that all those 500,000 people would know everything uttered by all the others - but that's exactly the situation with the Liminal Press at the moment:
Character Backgrounds - Anything in this forum is public knowledge. So don't mention the fact you're a Spanish spy
Applications - Obviously public
Gentlemanly Communications (March** 1630) - Anything in here can be considered public knowledge!
I think that this means that a lot of potentially interesting press just isn't getting written. There are things which it would dangerous for a character to reveal to other characters - one of them may become CPS one day and act upon the information - but which would nevertheless be interesting for other players (ie NOT characters) to know about.
For example, it would be immaterial to all other characters if Helen learned that her Uncle Philippe had defrauded her mother and herself out of 3,000 livres. What Helen did about it and the possibly nefarious steps she took as a consequence may nevertheless be of interest to the players of those other characters...
So, I'd like to suggest that the GM creat a monthly 'Gossip Column' forum, to be archived at the end of every month like the Greasy Poles and Gentlemanly Communications. Anything posted in the Gossip Column would be unsubstantiated (information posted there could well be false) and unattributable. In other words, although Player A running character B would be aware that Player X running character Y had posted a piece, character B would be unlikely to be aware of it at all and, if he or she was, would be unaware that it had anything to do with character Y.
(Pieces which were sensitive enough need posting anonymously could be sent via the GM in the usual way, of course).

** Shouldn't this be April now ?
