Cher Georges,
I hope you're all well in Béarne.
Herein Paris, this month I assumed more respnsibilities that will make any visit quite more difficult.
On one hand, the King has honored me by making me Controller General of Finances, so I now must remain in Paris most the time and attend the Government meetings. I met the Cardinal in my first meeting, and it seemed to me a more afable man than he's usually pictured. He als oseems quite a weazel in politics, being hardened in many contests, so it may just be the face he shows, but he's sure concerned by the King and Kingsom.
OTOH, I have been named the Custodian of little Tristesse d'Blancheur (Marechal d'Blancheur's daugnter). As she's just a little older than Rnenné, I believe emenlin and myslef wil lbe able to care for both at once, and I hope thay go well along, so helping each other to grow as noble people should.
Of course, al lof this will put (at least) a temporary halt to any military ventures, as Emelin cannot assume alone hte caring of the two children, and the King will want me at the government meetings...
I heard the Spanish border is move nagain in military sense, so, please, take care and keep yourselves safe.
Please, kiss our sisters and embrace our brothers
Your loving brother

Cher Georges,
Paris is returning to normality after the Summer campaign, and this month I could attend the royal balls with Emelin, already recovered from the birth of Renné.
I could also attend the Steeplechase (the autumn horses race). As my horses died at the beginning of the year, the Marquis of Chévreuse was kind enough to allow me to use his box, he having departed to Spanish border for war. Could he visit you all, by the way?
I heard that his Dragoons have done a good job in the border, and I guess your position is now safer than some months ago… In any case, take care and don’t trust the Spanish.
Please, kiss our sisters and embrace our brothers

Cher Georges,
I heard my friend, le Marquis de CHévreuse, has done a good job at the border, and the Spanish troops seem to have returned to winter quarters. I’m glad situation has been clamed in Gascony, and I hope you will have some peaceful times ahead…
This month has been quite quiet in Paris, though I could attend two Royal Balls, aside that keeping with my Government and Guards duties. I’m becoming quite busy, to say truth…
Those Balls are important social acts, and HM and his staff sure know how to organize them. There you can find the best of Parisian society, and it seems they now consider me among them, despite some etiquette botches…
Please, kiss our sisters and embrace our brothers

Cher Georges,
Now that the borders seem secured, the society in Paris is speeding up, though I’m not sure to really fit there, despite Mme Duchesnes’ lessons….
This month has been quite quiet for me, though, mostly busy with Government and Guards duties, but I cannot say the same for my friend Jaques (I’m sure you remember him, and, BTW, he told me to thank you for your hospitality in Béarne).
His lady Eloise has left him (some say that the King himself convinced her (as he tried with Emelin time ago). Emelin is quite displeased with that. They both come from Burgundy and became friends, and she cannot approve this (In fact, she’s quite scandalized and upset on it, as she has learned to keep her opinions to herself, but she keeps thinking HM should learn to keep his pants up). I’ve heard that Jaques seems to have given up, and he will attend the Debutantes Ball this new year’s week…
This aside, another friend of mine (Msr Balls) has created a new theater company. I’m looking forward to attend their plays, but not sure when they will start them. Can you believe Emelin’s secretary is also involved on it?
And I own again a recehorse. It's a young, but quite promising, mare, named Silver Kitten. I has costed me dearly, but aside from having it now, the satisfaction of outbiding the Spanish Ambassador is undeniable...
Well, enough for now. I hope you’re all well in Béarne, as I heard weather is warmer than here.
Please, kiss our sisters and embrace our brothers

Cher Georges,
I hope you’re all well at home, though I’ve been informed the Spanish are moving again in pour border, this time seems they avoid the Pyrenees passes at west and are attacking from the Roussillon . The Adjutant General has told me troops are on the march to help there, though, so I don’t expect the war to extend towards western Pyrenees now…
Here in Paris things keep quiet, attending government meetings, horse races and weddings (this time Emelin’s secretary has wed a fellow Guards Captain). And also raising Renné and Tristesse, of course. Tristesse already begins to walk a little, as is going to celebrate her first anniversary this March…
Not sure if I could visit you this summer, as state affairs are a heavier burden than I expected, and the meetings, envoys and such leave less tiem that what I'd like... But I cannot complain, and I must be up to what HM trusted to me.
Well, I leave you for now, as it seems children are crying again, and Emelin might need some help on it…
Please, kiss our sisters and embrace our brothers

Cher Georges,
I hope you’re all well at home, despite the war running near.
In Paris things are going quiet. Governmental meetings, attending the races (though this time no horse of mine ran them) and other social events, without forgetting my duties as Commander of the guards…
I also attended the wedding of another Captain of my Regiment, the Baron Bonnet, who has married Emelin’s secretary, also a musician of good talent (and not only when compared with me) Mme. Valenon (now Bonnet). I could not attend the reception after it, though, as important business called my attention.
By the way, the King has announces his intent to visit the Spanish Border this May, so it’s possible we meet sooner than I expected.

Cher Georges,
According the news reaching Paris the border is far from quiet. I hope our lands and family has not been affected by it…
Here in Paris we’re readying troops to be sent as reinforcements this summer. The minister of War (do you remember Renald?) is still deciding which regiments will go.
In the meanwhile, I attended the Downs horserace, where my new horse (one that I bought in a charity auction after father Chatten untimely death, god have him) ran. The Crown Prince honored me and Renald (who was my guest at my box) with his company. God, this man drinks as if there was no tomorrow, and one cannot refuse when he invites you… I didn’t even see well my horse arriving at fourth place, and the hangover the day after was terrible…
I also kept with my official duties, in Government meetings and receiving envoys from abroad. This month there was no ball, though, and the meeting was more formal than usually.
I also saw that Father Chatten, killed as missionary, had a proper funeral. Can you believe not even his Regimental brothers (he was the Chaplain of my Regiment) attended it, despite I asked them to? I understand there are other duties, be them social or regimental ,but he was one of us…
One last thing: as I already told you, this May the King intends to visit the Spanish Border. I’ll suggest him to be our guest at our Manorial House, so, please, make it ready to receive Him if He agrees and so honors us.
Please, kiss our sisters and embrace our brothers. I hope to see you in May (even if the King does not accept my invitation, I’l ltry to pay you all a visit).
Your loving brother

Cher Georges,
It seems our troops are stabilizing the situation in the Spanish border, or the Spanish ones are reserving for Summer. We cannot be sure, but in any case I hope things are more quiet in our lands…
Here in Paris, things are going as usual. I attended again the Derby, where my horses did so-so, but I was honored in my box by the presence of the Vescomte de Dammartinn and HM the King, who decided to share the afternoon with us. He’s as good a company as his brother, and less inclined to strong drinks. This time there was no hangover….
As I told you, this May we’re moving to the Spanish border, so I hope to be able to see you in person again (I miss you all). I hope HM will accept our invitation to spend some time at home, so, please, have the manorial house ready for such a visit, should it be.
Please, kiss our sisters and embrace our brothers. I hope to see you this month. (

(June 1634)
It was the irst week of May and Spring was blossoming when the King’s entourage arrived to Béarn manorial mansion.
Huillaume ,after asking permission to HM, unmounted his horse and went to greet his family, embracing each of his brothers and sisters. Emelin moved with him, taking Renné and Tristesse (who already walked by herself) with her to introduce them to her husband’s family.
Then HM advanced towards them, and huillaume introduced his family to him. Each of them kneeled before the Kin and kissed his hand, and Mireia (Huillaume’s elder sister) moved to show the King the rooms they’ve readied for him and ordered some servants to ready things for Hm to take a bath after the travel.
Huillaume and George began to talk about some fief management matters and the camping of the Royal Guards, while Emelin and the children kept with Huillaume’s sisters, talking and playing.
Few days ago, HM left, along with Huillaume and the Guards, to help the troops fighting the Spanish in the border, while Emelin and the children remained with Huillaume’s family.
Two weeks latter, the Kings entourage returned victorious , and the King was lodged again in the mansion, and the all spend some more days resting them (and caring for the few wounded, as the guards have seen little combat), and Huillaume, Emeli nand the children could enjoy some days more with his family before returning to Paris with HM.

Cher Emelin,
Things are going well in Lorraine. We have taken the enemy fortifications, making them surrender and it seems they are retreating. So it seems things will be more quiet here. In fact, I think they are becoming quiet enough as for our presence to be no longer needed right new. I guess I will offer the Adjutant General to relocate the Guards to another sector (I hear the Savoy sieges are not going so well…
I hope things in Paris are going equally well. Has Renné already made his first steps? He’s going to be one year old next month…
Please, keep me informed about Paris events, and don’t be worried for me. My men, as always, take good care of me, and while war is never fully safe, they protect me as m uch as one could ask.
Embrace Tristesse and Renné for me
With love.

Chére Emelin,
Things are being quiet in the Lorraine border, and seem they will remain In August, as it seems the Germans are still Licking the wounds from June, or they’ve just decided to devote this year to rebuild, as we did...
Some of my collaborators suggested me to go for a Brigade command instead, probably in Flanders (as In Spain it would not be a temporary office) , And I would have probably done it if I had not taken the Guards to the front, but as I did, I would now feel as betraying them by abandoning them, even in a quiet sector. I’m a Guardsman, and will stay with them ,even if to share their boredom.
I hope Renné is not creating many trouble, now that he begins to walk, and that he and Tristesse (as well as you, of course) are well. I miss you all, but it won’t take long to be again to your side. Kiss both of them for me.
with love Huillaume

Cher Emelin,
Another boring (but safe, it that comforts you) month in barracks, as neither us nor our enemies intend to take offensive actions. Good part is most borders seem to be quite peaceful now, so damages of war seem to wind down, and maybe may be healed, for the good of most people…
I’ve taken profit of those boring weeks to paint some paintings to decorate our house, as the walls were still a little bare. I hope you’ll like them.
I look forward returning to Paris, with you and the children. I guess they’re keeping you busy, and that I’ll find them quite grown up since I left. It seems next month will be quite busy, among envoys and Government matters, but I’m glad to see HM has st a Ball were we could attend. Too long without attending one with you…
Please, embrace Tristesse and Renné for me
With love.
Huillaume
OOC:The paintings told about are not the ones given i nthe rules, just some RPG talk (though I suggested for future campaigns that if someone finds himself in garrison duty, to allow to use some weeks as in Provinces if results are Barracks)

Cher Georges,
Finally returning to Paris, after a boring Summer Campaign in Flanders. I hope thing go well at home, as I hear out troops are keeping the border quiet…
I finally had the money to redeem our ancestral lands (something you know I promides dad to make every effort to). So now it becomes fully ours aain, and I hope you wil lbe m yeyes and ears there to adminsiter them.
I’ve met the Spanish Valido, Don Gaspar de Guzman, count-duke of Olivares at the Court. Frankly, the meeting was tense, and he and His Eminency don’t seem to agree in anything. I guess HM the Queen was not pleased with the reception as it went.
The rest of the month was also quite busy with Government affairs and a Royal Ball, Not the resting time I expected after the long and boring campaign. Let’s hope next month will be less busy, as the burden of of my office is more than I expected…
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
My ministers say the border is quiet as it has not been for longtime, so I hope you’re enjoying the peaceful times and the crops will be decent this autumn and winter, without the war ravages.
This month it has been the papal envoy Most Reverend Archbishop Buccio di Pezzi the envoy we had to meet. Diplomatic activity is peaking and we have many affairs to attend. I had my first audience with HM, and I’m heard he’s considering me for a Duke title… It seems he’s quite pleased with my work in his Government…
Emelin and I also attended the races this month, and one of our horses was nearly to show, being in third place until last yards… Well, I hope they will fare better in the future, as he’s still young...
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.

Cher Georges,
According news reaching here, peace is being kept in the border, and I keep hoping you all are enjoying it. It has taken too much blood to achieve this precarious truce, and I cannot promise you for how long it will last…
Finally HM has decided to honor me by making me a Duke. The titling ceremony will take a while, as this winter the court will be a little busy, but the honor he makes me is great…
Our friend the Duke of Chévreuse invited Emelin and me to the Royal Theater. It had been time since we enjoyed it last time… It was a fun commend. I guess he intended to realx before being named Grand Duc, as HM has honored him with it (and he certainly deserves it). He was formally so titled in a Royal Ball. Finally some time to relax, as sure I needed it.
But that does not mean the state affairs didn’t take part of my time, and next month the court will meet at Picardy, so we’re travelling there…
Please, embrace our brothers and kiss our sisters for me.
