The Piquets were elevated into the nobility of France during the Hundred Years War, the first lord is widely believed to have gaining his title after warning the army of an approaching English force's night attack. Consequently they took their proud family name and traditionally hold the honour of commanding the night watch when the King is with the army, justifying their motto 'Je guette le Roi' .*
Gervais is the third son of the current Marquis, and grew up at Chateau Fourmiliere in the Languedoc region in the southern part of France. His education includes being taught by the powerful clergy of the region around Le Puy-en-Velay.
He is of average build and height with black hair and a tanned complexion and an apparent interest in art.
*Those who wish to slight the family repeat rumours that the Piquet name represents their achievement of winning their nobility through a series of games of picquet, or that the task of patrolling the pickets was a punishment inflicted on the family for a lack of diligence.

[Week 1 February]
Gervaise dashed the bunch of red roses to a scented confetti of blood-like petals against the nearby wall as he staggered from the doorstep.
"Clearly beating a man fair and square has no bearing in these matters!" He mutters with a grimace.
