Sunday 27th March 1633
Father,
Easter. The death and passion of Christ. Yet my dearest love ... passed only a few days before.
Do bring the family to Paris, the Baptism shall be at the start of the Month of April, and Funeral the week after. I shall be heading to Picardy the week after, so we can all travel back together?

Mother,
With the death of father, I am just glad he got to meet little Tristesse. I will make arrangements for you and my siblings. I'm currently at the Front, so really you will be looking after your own welfare, with my full authority, until I return.
Tristesse is being looked after by her maternal grandmother, as you know. I hope you enjoyed the baptism.
I have been promoted to Brigadier, so no longer may I wear the uniform of the Cardinal's Guard. More expense at a doubly difficult time.

Mother,
I intend to visit you, my estates and Bishop Henri. Paris offers nothing for me, not in terms of Duty, nor pleasure.
I need to find my purpose in life.

Mother,
Military matters seem to not need my attention, though I pray for an opportunity to serve France.
I need to find my purpose in life. I am considering training as a Priest.
